⏳ A Few Weeks Later…
It’s been a little while since our big hive relocation, and we’re happy to report that our bees have settled into their new home at Halstead Garden Centre beautifully.
From the very first day, they wasted no time in exploring the flowers nearby, and now the hive is humming with activity. Nectar, pollen, brood — everything is ticking along as it should, and Beryl the Queen seems perfectly content with her new kingdom.
🌻 Busy Bees in Bloom
Every inspection shows just how hard our little workers have been. Frames are filling, brood is expanding, and the hive is buzzing with purpose. It’s a joy to see the colony thriving after their big adventure on the road.
💡 Did you know?
When bees are moved to a new location, they perform “orientation flights” — small looping flights in front of the hive to memorise landmarks. This helps them find their way back home after foraging. If you ever see bees hovering in little zig-zags near the entrance, that’s what they’re up to!
👀 A Buzz with Visitors
It’s not just us who have noticed the hive’s progress — the bees have become something of a local attraction!
Shoppers and visitors at the garden centre often pause to watch them coming and going, admiring their tireless flights. Many have stopped to ask questions, curious about how the hive works and amazed at how calm the bees seem when left to their own rhythm.
💡 Fun fact:
Honey bees aren’t usually interested in people unless they feel threatened or smell something sweet. That’s why it’s perfectly safe to watch a hive from a distance — the bees are far too busy with their own important jobs!
✨ What’s Next?
With summer in full swing and so much forage around, we’re hopeful the bees will continue to build up strongly. Our next focus will be making sure they have enough space for both brood and stores as the season goes on.
For now, we’re simply enjoying watching them thrive in their new home — and seeing the joy they bring to visitors who stop to admire the hive.
Halstead Garden Centre might just be the perfect spot for Beryl and her buzzing family. 💛🐝
