🎨 Designing the Look
While our honey was settling, we turned our attention to something just as exciting: the jars and labels. After all, every drop of honey deserves to look as good as it tastes.
We decided to start with smaller 227g / 8oz jars — the perfect size for gifting, sharing, and (let’s be honest) finishing in one enthusiastic sitting!
Once the design was ready, complete with our logo, all the proper legal information, and even a special credit to Beryl the Queen, we sent them off to be printed and ordered in our first batch of jars.
✨ Jarring Day
When the honey had settled, it was time for the big moment. After sterilising the jars, we carefully measured out each portion using scales, making sure every jar was filled neatly and consistently.
The kitchen was soon lined with row after row of golden jars — our very first harvest, ready to shine.
đź’ˇ Did you know?
In the UK, honey jars must be labelled with:
the word “Honey”
the weight in metric (and optional imperial)
the country of origin
and the “best before” date.
This keeps everything traceable, transparent, and in line with food regulations.
🍯 51 Jars of Joy
From just one super, we managed to fill an incredible 51 jars of Hollow and Hive’s very first honey. Seeing them all lined up, complete with their new labels, felt like bottling sunshine.
And yes, every jar carries a little nod to the hardest worker of them all — Queen Beryl.
🌼 What’s Next?
Now comes the best part: sharing our honey with friends, family, and anyone curious to taste the fruits (or rather, the flowers) of our bees’ labour.
From swarm to spoon, it’s been a magical journey — and this is only the beginning.
