Welcome to the website of the Hazard Mitigation & Infrastructure Resilience (HMIR) lab directed by Dr. Yazhou (Tim) Xie in the Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics at McGill University
The research at HMIR focuses on enhancing infrastructure resilience and sustainability using advanced modeling and smart protection. Specific areas of interest at HMIR include:
Soil-structure interaction, soil liquefaction
Innovative seismic design, smart material and device
Performance-based earthquake engineering
Statistical and machine learning
Risk, loss and resilience assessment
Multi-hazard, multi-objective optimization and decision making
