Biographical Note
The United Church of Christ (UCC) is a historically Lutheran influenced Protestant Christian church. In 1957, the Evangelical and Reformed Church united to form the UCC. Both the Evangelical and Reformed Church were the result of prior unions with churches of Congregational, Christian, Evangelical, and Reformed denominations. According to the 2008 UCC Annual Report, the UCC is comprised of 5,320 churches and 1,111,691 members.
Scope and Contents of the Papers
The Church Records collection contains holograph manuscripts (mostly in books) in both English and Hawaiian (with some translated). Early membership lists, accounts of missions and churches, minutes of church and clerical associations meetings and some parrish records.
