We are a Zen Buddhist community in the White Plum tradition practicing in Annapolis, Maryland. Ours is a growing Sangha, having first gathered in January 2025.
We gather together to engage in sitting meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), to receive authentic Buddhist teachings (teishō), and to support one another along the path. No prior experience is necessary, and all are welcome.

Kūhai Radice, Sensei
A Buddhist student and practitioner for twenty-five years, Kūhai is a Sensei and Preceptor in the White Plum Asanga and a member of the Lay Zen Teachers Association.
Kūhai Sensei received Denbō from Jingen Sensei of One Heart Sangha on May 31, 2025. Since being named Sensei, he has continued his training with Hōetsu Sensei of Clare Sangha, receiving Denkai on June 27, 2026.
Prior to studying under his Zen teachers, Kūhai was a student of Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche in the Kagyu tradition of Vajrayana (Tibetan) Buddhism.
His teachings emphasize the commonalities between the various Buddhist schools while maintaining traditional Zen forms of practice, with a particular focus on how to apply the Dharma in the secular world.
We gather together to practice in the Shrine Room-turned-Zendo at the Gampopa Center in Annapolis, MD. The Gampopa Center is a Vajrayana community practicing in the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism and the practice space reflects the beautiful imagery and iconography of this tradition. Practicing traditional Zen forms in a Kagyu space is a rare opportunity.
If you have a preferred meditation cushion, you are welcome to bring it. If not, we provide an array of zafus (cushions), zabutons (mats), and chairs. All you truly need to bring is an open mind and your presence!
