Call For Papers
We want to do something a bit different with the Historic Brewing Conference, and as part of our commitment to open beer and brewing history up to everyone, we're presenting the opportunity for people to give a talk on a subject they know, that fits in with our timescales and theme, even if they've never given a talk before or if it's a topic that's unlikely to get an airing elsewhere - let's face it there aren't that many places where you can talk about ancient brewing techniques or how a beer style has evolved with migration and immigration.
So we're putting out a Call for Papers for those talk ideas that might not otherwise see the light of day, and we'll pick the six we think best fit the conference and offer an opportunity to come along and present them to an audience of beer and brewing historians, writers, aficionados and drinkers. This could be a great first step for someone looking to do more talks, to get seen on stage alongside some of the best known and respected names in the sector.
The conference talks are split into two tracks, Technical and Social as you can see on the Schedule page. So talks must fit into one of those categories. We'll be picking three entries for each category, so feel free to enter one into each.
The conference is covering the time span of prehistory to Prohibition, so the subject of the talk must fit within that too.
The talks themselves will need to be between 20 and 30 minutes long.
If so, in the first instance please contact us to register your interest with a working title of your talk along with a brief synopsis of what you'll be covering.
As this is our first year, and we're starting small, we unfortunately we won't be able to cover travel or accommodation if we invite you to present the talk, but you will get two tickets for the conference so you can bring a partner, friend or family member along with you, a small speakers fee to help towards your costs, and several drinks from the bar.
