HisabBook - Easy Money Tracking — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 August 2026
HisabBook ("the App", "we", "us") is a personal cashbook, ledger and expense manager. This policy explains what information the App handles and how it is
protected. In short: HisabBook is an offline-first finance app. Your financial records are stored on your device and are never sold or shared. Nothing is uploaded
unless you choose to sign in and enable a backup — and even then, backups go to your own Google Drive and stay under your control.
1. Information stored on your device
- Financial records — books, transactions, customers, suppliers, employees,
budgets, recurring schedules, reminders and settings — are stored locally
in the App's private database (Room/SQLite).
- Attachments and photos (receipts, bills, customer/employee photos) are
copied into the App's private files and never uploaded anywhere by us.
- Settings (theme, language, currency, ad preferences) and the app-lock PIN
(as a salted PBKDF2 hash — never in plain text) are stored in local
preferences.
The App operates no servers: the developer does not collect, sell or share any of the data above.
Data leaves your device only through the optional Google features described below, which you control.
2. Optional Google services
The core app works fully offline with no account. Three optional Google
features exist; each is off by default and only activates when you use it.
Google Sign-In (optional): If you sign in, the app reads your Google account
name, email address and profile picture from Google. This information is used
only to identify the Drive account used for backups and is not used for any
other purpose. You can sign out at any time.
Backup to Google Drive (optional): If you enable "Backup to Google Drive",
the app uploads a JSON backup file containing your books, transactions,
customers, suppliers, employees, budgets, recurring schedules, reminders,
attachment references and settings to a folder named "HisabBook Backups" in
your own Google Drive account.
- The app uses Google's restricted drive.file scope: it can only see, modify
and delete files it created itself, never the rest of your Drive.
- Backups run when you press "Back up now" or automatically every few hours
while the feature is on and you remain signed in.
- You can turn the feature off, sign out, or delete the backup file from your
Drive at any time.
Firebase Analytics (optional): The app includes Google Firebase Analytics,
which may send anonymous usage events (app opens, screen views, sign-in and
backup outcomes) to Google. These events contain no financial records, names,
amounts or balances. Analytics is removed if the configuration file is
dropped from the build, and Google's advertising controls let users opt out
of personalised collection.
3. Advertising
The App may display ads served by Google AdMob. Ad requests may include
Google's advertising identifier and device information, handled by Google
under its own privacy policy. No transaction, balance or customer data is
ever included in an ad request, and ads never appear on financial entry
forms. You can turn ads off entirely in Settings.
4. Permissions we use
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS — show payment/reminder/budget notifications you create.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — re-arm your reminder alarms after a device reboot.
- INTERNET — Google AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Google Sign-In and Drive
backups; the core bookkeeping works without it.
The App does not request camera or storage permissions: photos are captured
through the system camera app and files are picked via the Storage Access
Framework, which never grants blanket access.
5. Android system backup
The App enables Android's system backup, so the Android operating system may
include app data in the device's automatic backup to the user's Google
account. This is controlled by the user through the device's Settings
(Backup / System backup).
6. Data deletion
- You can delete individual records at any time from within the App (with
confirmation).
- Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. To keep a copy first,
use Backup & Restore → Create Backup.
- Google Drive backups: turning the feature off and signing out stops further
uploads; the backup file remains in your Drive until you delete it.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect
personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a
new effective date.
