Summary: HireSnap AI has no backend server. Your API keys and candidate data never leave your device (they are not sent to any HireSnap server). Profile data is sent only to the AI provider (OpenAI or Google Gemini) using your own API key.
HireSnap AI does not collect, transmit, or store any data on its own servers because it has no servers. All processing happens locally in your browser.
The extension reads and processes the following data:
LinkedIn profile text — scraped from the currently open LinkedIn profile page when you click "Analyze Candidate". This text is sent to the AI provider you have configured (OpenAI or Google Gemini) using your own API key. It is not stored beyond your local browser history (see below).
Your API key(s) — stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. Keys are never transmitted to HireSnap's servers (there are none). They are only sent to the respective AI provider (OpenAI at api.openai.com or Google at generativelanguage.googleapis.com) to authenticate your API requests.
Analysis history — a local record of the last 50 candidate analyses is stored in chrome.storage.local. This never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time from the History page.
Saved form values — the Role Title and Job Description fields are saved locally so they persist across popup opens. Cleared when you click "✕ Clear".
When you click "Analyze Candidate", the following data is sent to the AI provider you have selected:
The LinkedIn profile text (name, headline, location, about, experience, education, skills)
The Job Description you entered
The Role Title you entered
This data is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider's API endpoint using your own API key. It is subject to that provider's privacy policy:
Google Gemini: policies.google.com/privacy
HireSnap AI reads profile data from LinkedIn pages that you, the user, have opened and chosen to analyze. The extension only activates on linkedin.com/in/* profile pages. It does not perform bulk scraping or automated crawling. Each analysis is initiated explicitly by you clicking "Analyze Candidate".
You are responsible for ensuring your use of LinkedIn profile data complies with LinkedIn's Terms of Service and applicable privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
HireSnap AI does not include any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking code. No usage data is collected.
API keys: stored until you click "Remove" in Settings, or uninstall the extension.
Analysis history: stored until you click "Clear All" in History, or uninstall the extension.
Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
HireSnap AI is intended for professional use by recruiters and HR professionals. It is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
