(correction again sorry! the music app integrates into the filemanager, and therefor no need to scan the files etc and now he simply switches to the next song. within the filemanager. Great!)

I have inspected the /Music folder multiple times and the 500+ songs I deleted are physically not in the filesystem any more. I tried rebooting the phone multiple times. I tried deleting the Cache and data for the app in Settings > Application, as well as running SDrescan to remount and rescan the card. I even tried deleting them from the music player app itself.

No matter what I try, these songs will not disappear. (Though they obviously fail when I try to play them because they don't exist) Is there a file where the Music library cache is being kept that isn't getting updated? I would love to find it and just delete it.

I also use Songbird for Android, and it had the same problem. New songs show up, but the old ones will not go away at all. Though, now Songbird won't even load at all. Sometimes loading it causes the phone to reboot. I have currently uninstalled it.

In addition, it causes the phone to become very unstable whenever I try to play music. Accidentally playing a non-existent song can cause the phone to crash and get stuck on a black screen, requiring a battery pull and reboot.

Re-launching a music app after doing this will force it to rebuild the database, which can take a little bit of time but will ultimately refresh the list to reflect the most recent contents of the SD card.

@elderathis actually figured this out in the comments. Apparently, I needed to delete the data/cache for the "Media Storage" app, which I didn't even know existed - but I suspect does all the backend work for media players. I then did a SDrescan to be safe, and now it works!

In addition, the fact that the problem existed in Songbird and the Music app was an indication that it was something deeper in Android than just in each app. So if anyone finds a problem across multiple media players, try deleting the "Media Storage" app data and cache.

. I will make a music player in mit app inventor but I don't know how to select the music file from the phone + when I select the music file from the phone, I want to reflect the music information on the screen, please help me how can I do it?

I will make a music player application and I want to automatically select songs from external storage and sd card and reflect them to the list. When the user selects a song from the list, I want it to play in the background. Please understand.

When I was using Windows, I had an application called MiniLyrics which let me display the lyrics of the music files played. The application automatically downloads the lyrics and displays them while the song plays. Is there a similar application in Ubuntu that I could use?

Why have a separate app for lyrics and not have them within the player? Maybe the external app like osdlyrics has a larger database? In fact it is far from matching Clementine's or that of Foobar2000 addons like Lyric Show Panel 3.

You can also delete music in the Settings app. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage. Scroll to Music and tap it. Swipe left on All Songs or on the item that you want to delete, then tap Delete.

I was wondering if there might be a fixed pattern/algorithm being followed by various music player for shuffling the playlist. From my guess i could figure it out that these media players uses same algorithm for shuffling. I say so that practically I have experimented the behavior of shuffle function of various players on the same playlist. Thus if this is the case then what is that algorithm?

My question is to know whether all music player share a common algorithm for shuffling. if YES, then which algorithm ? if No, then how come I have got the same sequence of songs after shuffling the same playlist from my nokia mobile 5233, 5300, VLC media Player, Windows Media Player, etc.

There are a number of different shuffle algorithms with Fisher-Yates being one of the more popular. Even if a player uses that algorithm it's implementation will depend on a number of other factors (coding language, random number support). Unless a player directly copies code from another program it will be different in implementation.

It's strange that you claim that different players 'shuffle' the same playlist in the same order. Even using the same algorithm (or same player) should result in a random playlist each time it is shuffled.

It worked pretty fine for me, using a list of length .9*n I'd never get a repeated song in bewteen at least 90% of the total songs. This of course is anything but efficient with song libraries with many songs. But a PSP could only store a few hundreds so it was ok.

I know that, it has to be a txt file ok, i get that. What i was trying to ask is that, if there any way to translate a music mp3 file to a txt with the format flipper requires. not just adding the mp3 or waf file

This is just issue (1) remaining I assume? Have you tried doing a clean reformat on the SD Card, then copy all your music back? It does sound as though the card isn't mounting quickly enough for PA on reboot, but that usually would only be a matter of seconds rather than hours.

Can't remember which version, but one of my version upgrades caused what sounds like your stuttering problem. I don't use Hi-Res because all the music on my phone is MP3 VBR LAME V0 which is about as good as you can get in MP3 land, but by no means qualifies as Hi-Res (for that matter FLAC ripped from audio CD isn't Hi-Res either). I went to settings -> Audio -> Output -> OpenSL ES Output and then the settings gear for Wired... and Bluetooth and increased both the Buffer ms and Buffer #. This has cured the stuttering up to and including the current v840-841 versions of PA.

Sometimes, when I play a song through the "Music" app, the playback will be at a much lower pitch than it should be. This results in songs being distorted-from what I can tell, the speed of the songs isn't changing, just that the music is being pitched down.

I notice this most often when I use the "shuffle" option in my smart playlists. Restarting the app or even just playing a different song and then going back to the original one will often fix the issue. Pausing and resuming a song with the pitch problem doesn't fix the issue, keeping the incorrect pitch until I restart or try something else. This issue also has never happened on my iPod's music app, nor does it persist on specific songs... it seems to occur randomly.

How do I fix this issue? What's even causing it? I don't think there'd be any setting that would cause random songs to be pitched down when I shuffle through my music library (which is all local files).

Wanted to update just to say that skipping forwards and backward doesn't actually fix the issue. I just had the issue right now-was listening to Kanye West's "Roses" (which came up on shuffle) and noticed that Kanye's voice seemed low-pitched. Skipped to the next song and skipped back and it was still low-pitched. Quit Music, opened the app again, and then navigated to the song "Roses," and it played at a normal pitch.

The thing that confuses me is I'm just not sure at all how the cable or TV would relate specifically to the Music app. If audio was regularly randomly being outputted at a low pitch, it would make sense. But, for instance, I'm never watching a YouTube video, and then suddenly the video is playing at a lower pitch (I can verify this because sometimes I have two things playing, like a video and music on shuffle, and then a random song plays at a low pitch while the audio of the other audio source is normal).

If all audio was being messed up, I'd imagine it was an issue at some point along the transfer of audio from my computer to its output, but the audio is only messed up in the specific circumstance of "occasionally, for random songs, in the Music app, which is fixed with a restart" (further implying it's some issue in the app itself).

I just wanted to post again and say this happened another time, today with the song "Beautiful" by A.G. Cook (which I noticed quickly since that song has artificially pitched-up vocals, making the pitch down more apparent).

I was able to find out that not only is the pitch decreasing, but the speed is as well... which makes me think the real problem is an issue with the playback speed. Pulling up a "seconds" counter and comparing it to the speed that seconds were going by on my Music app, it seems like the song was playing back at about 90% speed. Still not sure what is causing this.

Also worth noting that I tried skipping to the next song and it was also playing at that slow speed. Closing the app and restarting it fixed the speed problem, as it always does. I looked online and saw some people report something like this, but those reports involved streaming through apple music-mine is playing the songs straight from my computer, saved locally.
