Session II: Green Finance and Green Growth

Increasing global temperatures caused by climate change have been, and will continue to be, extremely detrimental to the Himalayas, causing a compounding effect on biodiversity, economic activities, lifestyle, and health. This session will bring forward a discussion on the green financing situation along with the scope of green growth in the region to tackle the impacts of climate change and the way forward for its various climatic zones.

Neha Kumar heads the South Asia Program for Climate Bonds Initiative, driving policy and partner programs in India to scale up the green bonds market. She has over 14 years of experience in public policy and sustainable industry action in India. Prior to joining CBI, her work at GIZ led to regulations on ESG disclosures regulation by the Securities and Exchange Board of India; and the development of financial sector-led Responsible Financing Guidelines.

Teresa Daban Sanchez

Teresa Daban Sánchez is the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Nepal, having previously held the same role in Armenia and Pakistan. Previously, she worked as a senior desk economist in numerous African and Latin American countries, participated in Financial Sector Assessment Program missions, and led technical assistance missions on public financial management. Before joining the IMF, she spent eight years at the Ministry of Finance in Spain.

With over 20 years in international development, she has led World Bank programs in Bihar and Rajasthan, and authored various World Bank reports.
