Hills District Over 35s Rugby play in the Hexagon (Friday nights) comps and Golden Oldies (Friday/Sunday) events.
Hills District, formerly Hills Old Boys 'Widowmakers' Rugby, expanded in 2025 to recognise our growing player base beyond the Sydney Hills District. Hills Barbarians attracts over-35s rugby enthusiasts from the wider Sydney region and a committed contingent from the Central Coast. We welcome all players past their prime who still have a burning desire to be part of a social rugby team, throw the odd cut-out ball, imitate side steps, and pack one more scrum (uncontested)! We also welcome anyone over the age of 35 who wants to try rugby for the first time.
Old boys rugby allows you to balance social rugby with careers and family time. Following the international rules of over-35s rugby, we play a good-spirited game, focusing on getting to work on Monday with plenty of stories to tell.
The rules are modified to protect player safety and maximise enjoyment. Simply put, the ball runner sets the intensity of the tackle. The Hexagon Rugby format allows two to three twenty-minute games to be played on a Friday night. It's a great way to let go of the stresses of the working week. Golden Oldies fixtures are played in a round-robin format, and the number of games depends on the number of teams or individuals on the day. Golden Oldies is a great way to meet fellow enthusiasts around the state. The Hexagon Rugby and Sydney Golden Oldies competitions offer our registered players options for games and dates that suit them best.
