EDIT with solution :

For my case the path set in the web UI is "C:\users\USER1\videos\hikvision" but the real folder to see files is : "C:\Users\USER1\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Virtualized\C\Users\USER1\videos\hikvision"

They say that it does support JPEG (snapshot) using digest/basic, at a default of 2fps but this is configurable. I can't get this working reliably either, although I can use the same URL in a browser and call a snapshot from outside of my home network. I think it has something to do with the way that basic authentication is handled when Splash Tiles requests the camera feed. This is a Hikvision camera/NVR setup, and there are a few differences in how this is handled between firmware versions.

Hikvision Download Video From Web Browser Path

A neighbor who is out of the country has a Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/8P. Someone took a package from her front door and I want to download images and video using the Chrome browser. When I select a check box and download a video file, where is the file stored? I set the Chrome preference to prompt me for the folder on each download, but I am not prompted when using the Hikvision app and I can't find the file once the download is complete.

Hikvision makes some damn good hardware but their programming has frustrated me enough that I won't recommend their stuff anymore. That being said, I need to know if there is a simpler way to get video footage off of a Hikvision DVR through the web interface that DOESN'T involve the following ridiculous process:

1. Close Internet Explorer, because that's the only browser that works with their web interface.

2. Re-launch IE in Administrator Mode, because that's the only way you can actually download files.

3. Play back the video in Playback mode to ensure you have the correct time stamp.

4. Download what you THINK is the correct time stamp video...

5. Figure out where the hell on the HDD the files were downloaded to.

6. Download and install Hik's proprietary and equally-miserable VSPlayer, because they can't be bothered to export files in a proper video format.

7. Fix VSPlayer from not being able to save anything because it needs an .ini file to repair the "no save path specified" error.

8. Convert the video to something actually usable.

Step 1: Basic NAS Setup. Begin by, (i) ensuring your NAS basic setup is complete according to its user manual (general setup, firmware updates, etc), (ii) you have your login credentials handy, (iii) the NAS is connected to your local network (including identifying its internal IP address), and (iv) you can reach the NAS UI from your web browser.

I suggest contacting customer support for your NVR and/or Googling for peer support on that model. Accessing a stream from an particular NVR via a browser is a pretty common desire, but each model may or may not offer this feature and those which do have particular requirements.

i finally got this working on my setup today. In reading the hikvision manual for substreams, I noticed a slight difference in the url. I had to capitalize the P in httpPreview. Without the cap, it would work in a browser, but not actiontiles. I changed to cap and after encoding the username and password in base64, everything worked.

The issue was caused by Internet Explorer / Microsoft Edge browser Protected Mode which prevents web applications from making changes in certain system folders and to prevent errors and crashes redirects them to a special virtual location instead. The actual location where the files were saved was: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Virtualized\C\Users\\Web.

What even are the regions?

If I start from us[.]hikvision[.]com, UK has no firmware, fw list on the EU site seems completely broken. Are we talking about www[.]hikvisioneurope[.]com/portal ? I see EU/UK here. EU seems to equal NL?

I really appreciate the help from everyone on here. At this point, I think it is fair to say that I give up.. Ive spent over 30 hours on this now and it is clear to me that I won't be able to get things working. I don't have windows I understand it really affects how you guys can help. I have tried a million combinations off IP address/file path/NFS or SMB/CIFS/Username/password and NOTHING will ever connect. I may be green on this subject but one can only think one of the combinations would have worked by now. Ive been using Mac for 10+ years and have been able to program or instal everything I needed up until now rendering this one IMPOSsSsIBLE! lol

Being a gadget freak I wanted my own home surveilllance security system. I already had the QNAP TS-451 ... so that was an easy choice for me. But wow, what a journey down the path with absolutely no real good documentation from QNAP SS. 2351a5e196
