End of Season Notes:
Tuesday, March 16 at 3:30 pm. Uniform and Ski Return. We'll collect all uniforms and rental skis (maybe a few roller skis too). Please make sure you get your gear turned in on that day. We'll clean out the ski shack and put everything into storage. Job Assignments
Thursday, March 18 at 3:30 pm. Outdoor Team Awards Ceremony. We'll spread the kids out in the football stadium to present awards. We have multiple award winners in all five pods. This should take about 30 to 45 minutes. Livestream link for Outdoor Team Awards Ceremony - please share with parents, grandparents.
Rollerski Rental. We have lots of interest in renting rollerskis for the summer. We have about 25 pairs of rollerskis to rent for the summer ($50). We'll post that information on the team webpage once we collect all the skis and do spring maintenance (mostly wheel replacements). We will have the skis ready by early April.

From the Captains: To thank our coaches for a great season, we're asking each skier who is able to contribute $5-10 for a coaches' gift. Your donation can be mailed/dropped off at 1385 Edgcumbe Rd, Venmoed to @MaeveMoening, or given directly to Anna, Otto, or Maeve. Thanks!

Shakeout Runs: Many of the skiers do short morning runs. A few folks were asking about them. Why do it? There are a couple of good reasons. Any run over 20 minutes develops your aerobic engine. It also keeps your body conditioned for running. This is a unique year. The skiers will transition from nordic to track in about 1 week. Normally this transition is 4 to 6 weeks. A few short runs in the morning will help you make that transition. If this is something you want to try - start with just a couple a week. Ask a coach what makes sense for you.
Davis Isom - Star Tribune Athlete of the Week
The live stream camera crew may need another 1-2 volunteers to help with races week of Feb 15th. Contact Jonathan Pundsack if interested. Best if you have an unlimited data plan and phone with good battery life.
Cold Weather Skiing: when the wind chill is less than -20F it gets tricky to stay warm. You can do it but you’ll need to be prepared. A face mask is a must. The best way to get out on the cold days is to ski at mid-day in an area with lots of trees (to slow down the wind). Don’t get caught up in the media hype about how cold it is outside. You can be comfortable skiing at temperatures that would scare off most people. When it gets below 5F it is almost always better to classic ski. Skate skiing becomes squeaky slow and less fun. You’ll also stay warmer classic skiing and the kick waxing is easy (go green). MSHSL allows practice until it is -20F air temp or -40F Wind Chill (we think that is a little nuts). Typically we will cancel practice between -10F to -20F windchill (the experienced skiers tend to have gear to deal with it).

Most practices (all pods) will start at 3:15 and finish at approximately 4:45
