Focus Method Lab ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension designed to help users structure study and work sessions using timed focus methods and track which methods work best for them.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Focus Method Lab stores, how that information is used, and how your privacy is protected.
Focus Method Lab is designed to be private by default.
The Extension:
Does not require an account
Does not collect personal information
Does not collect browsing history
Does not track the websites you visit
Does not use analytics or tracking services
Does not display advertising
Does not sell or share user data
Does not use external APIs to transmit user information
Does not send your focus history, ratings, tasks, or notes to an external server
Focus Method Lab operates locally within your Chrome browser.
Focus Method Lab may store the following information locally in your browser:
Your selected Study or Work mode
Your preferred/default focus method
The task name you optionally enter for a focus session
Active session timing information
Session start and completion information
Completed session history
Focus method ratings
Optional notes you enter after a session
This information is used only to provide the Extension's functionality, such as maintaining an active timer, remembering your preferred method, and generating your personal Method Report.
Focus Method Lab uses Chrome's local extension storage through the chrome.storage.local API.
Information stored in this manner remains within your Chrome browser profile on your device.
Focus Method Lab does not operate a server or database that receives this information.
Focus Method Lab does not collect or access:
Your name
Email address
Physical address
Phone number
Financial or payment information
Authentication credentials or passwords
Precise location
Health information
Browsing history
Website content
Search history
Communications
Contacts
Files stored on your computer
Advertising identifiers
The Extension does not request permission to read or modify the websites you visit.
Focus Method Lab requests the following Chrome permissions:
The storage permission is used to locally save:
User preferences
Selected focus methods
Active session information
Session history
Ratings
Optional session notes
This data is used only to provide Focus Method Lab features.
The alarms permission allows Focus Method Lab to maintain accurate focus and break timers even when the Extension popup is closed.
Alarm events contain timing information needed to progress through the selected focus method.
The notifications permission allows Focus Method Lab to notify you when a focus, break, preparation, or review phase has ended.
Focus Method Lab does not use notifications for advertising or promotional tracking.
Focus Method Lab does not sell, rent, transfer, or share user information with third parties.
The Extension does not send locally stored session data to the developer, advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Focus Method Lab does not currently use:
Google Analytics
Advertising networks
Tracking pixels
Behavioral analytics
Crash-reporting services that collect user data
Third-party analytics SDKs
Cross-site tracking technologies
We do not create advertising or behavioral profiles of users.
Focus Method Lab does not require an external service or API for its core functionality.
Links or references provided in documentation or support materials may direct users to third-party websites. Those websites operate under their own privacy policies and are not controlled by Focus Method Lab.
Session history, ratings, preferences, and optional notes remain stored locally until they are removed by the user, the Extension's history is cleared, or the Extension/browser profile is removed.
Focus Method Lab currently retains up to the most recent 100 session-history entries within its local storage.
You can remove your Focus Method Lab session history from within the Extension by opening the Method Report and selecting Clear ratings/history.
You may also remove locally stored Extension data by uninstalling Focus Method Lab from Chrome.
Because Focus Method Lab does not maintain user accounts or an external user database, there is no separately stored server-side user profile to delete.
Focus Method Lab is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not designed specifically to collect information from children.
The Extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other users.
Focus Method Lab minimizes privacy and security risks by keeping its functionality and user-created session information locally within Chrome and by limiting its requested permissions to those required for its core features.
No method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but Focus Method Lab does not transmit the locally stored focus-session information described in this policy to an external Focus Method Lab server.
This Privacy Policy may be updated if Focus Method Lab's functionality or data practices change.
If a future version adds features that materially change how user information is collected, stored, transmitted, or shared, this policy will be updated accordingly.
The effective date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.

Focus Method Lab uses user data only to provide and improve its single-purpose focus-session functionality.
User information collected through Chrome extension APIs is not used for advertising, is not sold to third parties, and is not used for purposes unrelated to the Extension's core functionality.
