The ultimate goal of all technological evolutions is undoubtedly to improve human life. With this regard, it is only meaningful if the technology can be more smoothly and perfectly integrated into human life.

As we all know, the main disadvantage of solar cells is that they cannot provide continuous power, because the sun goes down and the battery will generate electricity intermittently. A common solution to this relies on a connection to an energy storage system. However, this solution has the disadvantages of bulky design, risk of overcharging, and energy loss due to wired transmission.

Integrating solar technology and energy storage technology into a single component will lead to a shift that will change history. The use of sunlight to charge the battery will reduce the energy required to charge the battery, and this advanced self-powered lithium battery will pave the way for the next generation of electric vehicles.

The so-called advanced photocharging lithium battery (PLB) integrates solar cells and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries into a single device. The advanced photocharging lithium battery can undergo self-charging upon direct irradiation of sunlight without being bound by external wires. while in the charging mode; under the discharging mode, the advanced photocharging lithium battery itself behaves as a typical secondary lithium battery, and can undergo discharge directly.

The development of self-chargeable lithium-ion batteries is of great significance for expanding the usable range of the lithium-ion battery and it has received intensive attention from numerous researchers. Solar cells can generate electricity from the sunlight and ensure sustainable access to electrical power for charging lithium-ion batteries.
