If you want a rugged, compact shell to protect your earbuds from drops and scratches while swimming, choose Hermitshell Hard Travel Case; if you need high-fidelity audio with deep noise cancellation for long listening sessions in noisy environments, choose Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise.
• Hermitshell Hard Travel Case: Its biggest strength is heavy-duty EVA protection designed specifically for Anker Soundcore earbuds, but its trade-off is that it offers no sound or battery features—it is just a protective shell. This pick is for travelers who already own compatible earbuds and need reliable storage.
• Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise: Its biggest strength is the 60-hour battery life and hybrid active noise cancellation that blocks up to 20dB of ambient sound, but its trade-off is the bulkier over-ear design which is less portable than a simple case. This pick is for commuters and gamers who prioritize immersive audio and long playtime.
The Hermitshell Hard Travel Case serves a very specific, singular purpose: it is a fortress for your gear. When I look at the specifications, the material stands out immediately. It is constructed from Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), a substance known for being shock-absorbent yet durable. This isn't a flimsy fabric pouch that relies on velcro straps to hold things together; this is a hard enclosure. The dimensions are precise, with an inner size of 2.9 by 1.7 inches, tailored explicitly to fit the Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo, Liberty Lite, and Life A1 models. If you own one of these specific devices, the fit appears engineered to minimize movement inside the case, which is critical when tossing a bag into a backpack or a gym locker.
Who should buy this? You are likely someone who takes their audio equipment everywhere—commuters, gym-goers, or swimmers who need to keep their buds safe from water damage or accidental impacts. The description highlights "Heavy Duty Protection," suggesting that if you are prone to dropping your case or throwing it around, this is the solution. It is also ideal for anyone who wants to organize their charging accessories without worrying about them getting scratched by keys or coins. You are buying a container, not the headphones themselves.

You should skip this product if you are looking for a headphone replacement or if you have a different brand of earbuds. The compatibility list is narrow, focusing strictly on the Anker Soundcore Liberty series and the Life A1. There is no indication of universal sizing that would accommodate other true wireless models. Furthermore, the item has a weight of 0.05 kg, making it incredibly light, but it lacks any water resistance rating itself. While it protects against bumps, it is not a waterproof vessel for submersion. If your primary goal is to swim with your earbuds, you must ensure the earbuds themselves are waterproof, as the case is merely a transport shield, not a diving chamber.
The Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise headphones represent a completely different category of technology. This is not a storage accessory; it is a full-featured audio experience designed for immersion. The core of its appeal lies in the acoustic engineering. It utilizes a customized large 40mm dynamic driver unit, which is substantial for an over-ear design. This hardware delivers high-definition sound quality, aiming to recreate a live music scene with extraordinary clarity. But the real differentiator here is the noise control. The headset employs hybrid active noise cancellation capable of reducing ambient noise by up to 20dB. Whether you are dealing with the roar of an airplane engine, the rumble of a subway, or casual chatter in an office, this system is designed to isolate you from those distractions.
This product is built for endurance. The battery life figures are impressive on paper, offering 60 hours of continuous playback in standard music mode. Even when you engage the active noise cancellation feature at 60% volume, you still get up to 40 hours of listening time. That translates to over 600 songs on a single charge, which makes it an ideal companion for long business trips or extended gaming sessions. The comfort factor is also heavily emphasized in the specs. The manufacturer uses high-quality protein ear pads with increased breathability, wrapped in an ergonomic design that automatically fits the head shape. With a total weight of 280 grams, it balances durability with wearability for all-day use.
Who should buy this? You are likely a frequent traveler, a remote worker, or a serious gamer who needs to block out the world to focus. The Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity ensures a stable connection with a range of up to 100 feet, giving you freedom of movement. The foldable and rotating design means it packs down easily into a backpack or car compartment, though it will never be as small as a simple case. You might also appreciate the versatility of having both wireless and wired options via the included AUX 3.5mm cable, ensuring you can listen even if the battery dies or if you prefer a direct connection. However, if you need something that fits entirely inside a pocket or requires zero setup, the over-ear form factor and the need to charge a 280g device might feel like too much hassle compared to tiny earbuds.
• Best for battery life → Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise, with 60 hours of standard playtime versus the case's lack of power.
• Best for portability → Hermitshell Hard Travel Case, weighing only 0.05 kg and fitting in a palm versus the 280g Riwbox headphones.
• Best for noise isolation → Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise, offering 20dB reduction through hybrid ANC, whereas the case provides no acoustic isolation.
• Best for physical protection → Hermitshell Hard Travel Case, made of EVA to prevent dents and scratches on specific earbud models.
• Best for long commutes → Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise, thanks to the 40-hour ANC playtime and comfortable protein ear pads.
• Best for swimmers needing storage → Hermitshell Hard Travel Case, provided your earbuds are rated for water, as the case protects against impact during transit.
• Best for audiophiles seeking fidelity → Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise, featuring 40mm drivers and a 45KHz frequency response.
• Best value for travel convenience → Hermitshell Hard Travel Case, if you already own compatible earbuds and just need a durable home for them.
In my opinion, the choice between these two products depends entirely on whether you are trying to store existing gear or build a new listening experience. If your primary goal is finding the best open ear headphones for swimming or simply protecting your current buds while you swim, the Hermitshell Hard Travel Case is the logical choice because it offers targeted, heavy-duty protection for that specific ecosystem. However, if you are looking for the best voice assistant on ear headphones for swimming or need a dedicated pair for immersive listening where battery life and silence are paramount, the Riwbox Hybrid Active Noise is the superior option. It brings the technology, comfort, and endurance required for a premium experience that a case simply cannot provide. For anyone seeking the best comfortable gaming headphones for swimming or general long-duration use, the Riwbox wins on performance, while the Hermitshell wins on utility for storage.
While it protects against bumps and scratches, you must rely on the water resistance rating of the earbuds themselves if you plan to use them in water.
The Riwbox AC2 uses hybrid active noise cancellation technology that reduces ambient noise by up to 20dB, effectively blocking sounds like airplane engines, subway rumbles, and office chatter.
The specifications mention a 1-hour charge time and include a Type-C charging cable, but they do not explicitly state whether the headphones support pass-through charging while in use, so you may need to wait for a full charge before listening.
No, the case is designed specifically for the Anker Soundcore Liberty Neo, Liberty Lite, and Life A1 models. It is not a universal case and may not fit other Anker models or brands due to the precise 2.9 by 1.7-inch inner dimensions.
