Helsinki Debating Society is a learning organisation funded by the Student Union of the University of Helsinki. Our weekly events are open to everyone from all skill levels: no fees, registration or student status required. We offer a friendly and encouraging learning environment for newcomers and veterans alike.Â

We host debate trainings, workshops and practice debates on a weekly basis. We debate in the British Parliamentary format and our topics range from democracy and economics to culture and ethics and beyond.
We also organise social events, tournaments and work with high schools to support the high school debating scene. Many of our members compete in international tournaments.

Our Tuesday events are usually at the New Student House at Mechelininkatu 3D. You will find us downstairs in the Hedda Gabler ('Pupu') premises.
