✧ born to a woman who had only the strength to hold the baby girl for a moment before she passed.  she had written to Draven about the pregnancy, the king of Rainevar had grown fond of the woman while visiting the village to the north.  months spent together as he postponed his return to the castle  -  and his wife  -  every chance he could.

✧ months after her birth,  Draven returned to the village both for business  &  pleasure.  instead of finding the woman,  he found Adelyn  &  without hesitation,  brought her back with him.  he claimed he found the baby amongst the rubble after an attack from a bordering kingdom on one of their villages.

✧ Aliania, the queen  &  Draven's lawful wife,  had her suspicions from the moment she laid eyes on the baby.  pregnant with her own child,  if Draven ever decided to legitimize her,  she would be the next heir to the throne.

✧ Draven did legitimize her but he passed before he could make the official announcement.  the document was left in the hands of his trusted advisor,  Calder Lionmaw,  an uncle to Adelyn in her years living in the castle.

✧ with the help of some of the handmaidens,  Adelyn snuck out in the dead of night to go to meet with Calder who had a horse  &  some rations for the girl, her legitimization documents tucked between the pages of a journal Draven left for her.  his only command was to go.

✧ Calder was beheaded 10 days later,  the now king Emmeric declaring him a traitor to the crown.   8 of those 10 days were spent being tortured for any information he had on Adelyn but he remained loyal to his king  &  his rightful heir.

✧ out of fear for her own life, because Aliania had often threatened it, Adelyn leaves in the dead of night with the help of some powerful allies

✧ she bounces across the world for 2 years before settling in San Francisco, enrolling in college  &  majoring in business with a minor in botany

✧ after another 2 years of working as both a University librarian  &  a flower shop assistant, she saved up enough money to rent a quaint apartment.  when she graduated at the age of 23,  the owner of the flower shop,  an old lady who’s family all left the state,  gave Adelyn the business  –  the grandchild she never got to have.
