The Helium Network is a decentralized peer to peer wireless network to forward transaction data from one home-based antenna to another antenna. By being a part of this network, people can earn HNT cryptocurrency.
The Helium miners install electronics to a rooftop antenna and register their location with the helium network. Once connected to the network their location is available to pass on transactions to another antenna miles away. The Helium Explorer at https://explorer.helium.com/ can show you where each helium miner antenna is located on a map. If you consider becoming a miner, you can determine how close or far away the next available helium miner is. Each miner has software installed on their mining equipment that shows how many transactions have been "Witnessed" and where each transaction came from and was forwarded on to another mining antenna.

Having too few or too many Hotspots nearby will lower the earnings made from your Hotspot which may have a range of 10 miles the early adopters are the ones who will make the most profits. Upgrading to a larger antenna & opening internet network ports will help increase your revenue.
