Hah... that does ring some bells~
Hard to forget about such a busy location with that kind of a long river. Heard that there was also a place nearby that focused on science. Do people ever sleep in that region? I bet you could find pretty interesting things... if not for all the dangers.

The Northeastern Hills contains the Facilities of Aetheria, and the Ghostwaters River.
These areas were once home to a scientific stronghold that housed some of the brightest minds, now lost to the relentless grip of the apocalypse. This stronghold managed to endure longer than many others before it succumbed to the destruction, eventually falling into disrepair and ruin. Nearby, an industrial city can be found, characterized by its towering buildings that stretched skyward alongside a wide river that find its way across the city itself. Cargo ships once sailed the river, navigating beneath one of the largest bridges in the land, a testament to the city's former vibrancy and the bustling trade that once thrived in this now desolate landscape.
The remnants of an old scientific stronghold, including a long-abandoned observatory, lie in this lonely and perilous hill, making it a challenging destination to reach. Within this eerie site, numerous laboratories and research facilities are scattered, each housing an array of scientific instruments and equipment left to decay over time. Once upon a time, as well, there dwelled a prestigious academic institution at the heart of the place where budding scientific minds prospered. Nowadays, however, all areas are filled with danger; increased mutations among the creatures here have endowed them with unique abilities not found elsewhere, including flying plant creatures that relentlessly stalk their prey until exhaustion or paranoia sets in. Despite the threats, the stronghold offers valuable resources, including medicinal plant samples, scientific materials, and old research papers that may hold forgotten knowledge. The shelves of the observatory and laboratories contain dusty books that could provide critical insights into the past. Additionally, if one can find out where to place oneself, they may also be able to find calming sights -- Northern Lights, shining bright upon the sky, and a waterfall, deep beyond the forest near the area.

A long river winds its way through an abandoned industrial city, its waters poisoned by the massive water plants that dominate the landscape. Before the cataclysm, Ghostwaters was filled with the poor, where most families were informal settlers, living underneath bridges or homeless on the streets, with multiple factories of fabric, chemicals, steel and many others were scattered around the area. It had orphanages and debilitated educational establishments among the residential areas, but as of today, such buildings are abandoned and the rest of the streets is strewn with rusted factories and derelict cargo ships, remnants of a once-thriving economy. Tall buildings, line the riverbanks, precariously teetering on the brink of collapse, and multiple bridges go over the waters, the largest of the land also existent in this area. The city is filled with danger; prolonged exposure to the toxic surroundings can lead to increasingly complex diseases, with ill health often manifesting within just a few hours of entry. An unsettling sensation pervades the area as well, as if unseen eyes are watching or following you, particularly when near the river. If you're quick enough, you can see what seems like...beings covered in moss, long strands of amassed black atop, sinking into the depths of the water. Despite these risks, the city still offers valuable resources, including potential power sources like old generators, chemical compounds, and the forgotten contents of cargo ships waiting to be rediscovered.
