Topic Proposal

As a topic of study this year I will be studying hedge fund management because of my interest in finance and investing.  I chose to study hedge fund management because I have always been interested in business and investing, and I would like to gain a well-rounded understanding of investment banking and managing finances.

Last year in ISM 1, I studied corporate law in which I learned about the legal proceedings behind creating, governing, and expanding a business.  This year, I would like to learn more about investing and dealing with finances through hedge fund management.  I also attended a Business Intensive program at Yale University in which I learned how to start and manage a business through the lenses of operations, finance, marketing, and legal.  I believe all that I have learned about managing a business, especially the finance aspect, will help guide me toward learning about hedge fund management.  

I would consider myself skilled in math and more knowledgeable about business than most my age.  I believe that I have a true passion for business and finance as a whole which will drive me to pursue research in hedge fund management.  I have already researched the legal side of business and somewhat into the finance side, and I am confident that I will learn even more this year.
