STYLIANI

cassiphone was the youngest child born to circe and odysseus on aeaea. she was born after odysseus left. she was raised under her mother's tutelage and care. she was taught how to brew potions, poisons and elixirs as well as the many enchantments that circe knew. circe always believed her children would do great things, her sons would be great warriors and cassiphone would be her companion. cassiphone truly believed she was her mother's favorite, and perhaps she was. 

latinus, agrius and telegonus all left aeaea when they came of age. however, when he came of age, circe told telegonus who his father was. he set off into the world of man with a poisoned spear. telegonus killed his father on ithaca unknowingly, and brought his body back to aeaea along with odysseus' son, telemachus, and wife, penelope. circe and cassiphone used magical herbs in order to bring odysseus back to life.

cassiphone then married telemachus, her half brother at the behest of odysseus. the marriage was loveless and short lived. telemachus saw through both cassiphone and circe. in his eyes they were only witches. at first he'd tried to love cassiphone, and she'd tried too, but she had no interest in him and he had none in her. moreover, telemachus wanted to go home to ithaca where his mother and father were.

cassiphone, overcome with her own anger and grief and determined to avenge her mother, killed telemachus. it was bloody and violent, all her anger pent up inside of her spilling out like lava. then, cassiphone set about resurrecting her mother, using the same herbs as had been used to bring back odysseus. she was successful, and in return her mother granted her immortality. 

that immortality would only become a problem for her, as when the gods saw what cassiphone had done, they turned her to stone. like that, she spent the next centuries at her mother's side, unable to speak or breath. she could only watch. her mother still spoke to her, even as there was no way cassiphone could react. cassiphone meant brother killer, and when she had fulfilled that, her own mother renamed her styliani, a name meaning pillar of strength.

styliani was only freed from her stone prison when gaea began to wake up from her slumber. this was due to gaea being more powerful than the gods themselves, and her abilities tied to the earth itself. she freed styliani in hopes that the young goddess would fight in her army. however, styliani was not able to leave aeaea until after the war had been lost and gaea was defeated. her mother kept her there, and she had no qualms with that, after all styliani had plenty of time to seek her revenge on the gods.

when she did leave, it was with her mother's blessing and the knowledge that she could always return home. she travelled from aeaea to the americas, and then began her trek to camp half-blood. she chose the name stella, a shortening of styliani, as her name. she didn't really have a plan from the start, only that she wanted to unseat the gods once and for all and if she could use their children to do it she would.
