JUNE TELLER

jaxon and june teller were born an hour apart on may 24th, 1978 in the charming, california hospital. the twins were born to gemma and john teller. john teller was the president and one of the founders of the sons of anarchy, redwood original charter. jax and june were born with a heart disorder. the twins were raised around the club. their childhood wasn't necessarily normal, but it was decently happy. they had a constant companion in each other. in 1984, their younger brother thomas was born. they were six at the time. 

when thomas was six and the twins were twelve, thomas teller died to due to the heart condition he shared with his siblings. it was a devastating loss to the family.

three years after that, june's father was struck by a semi truck and lived for two days in the hospital before he died. 

the teller twins weren't exactly supervised growing up, but after the death of their brother and then the death of their father they started acting out more and more. jax was being raised to follow in his father's footsteps and become president of the club. after his father's death, he dropped out of school in order to begin prospecting. mcs didn't allow women so while june was able to ride, she wasn't able to prospect like her brother. instead, she held everything in. her grief, her anger and frustration at the world were all kept inside. all the pressure was on jax, and there was no pressure on her, no one was focused on her at all. she had to be calm, and mourn in private because she didn't feel like anyone was going to validate her grief. jax was going to be president, jax was in love with his girlfriend, jax was getting in trouble with the law and everyone was just relieved that june wasn't causing problems too. so she couldn't. she fell behind in school because she kept skipping classes to hide in the mechanics shop, or the library. eventually, gemma got brought into school while june got reprimanded. they were told she had to pull it together if she wanted to graduate on time.

she did graduate on time, but she had to take summer classes between her junior and senior year to catch up. and she was able to get her grades up her senior year in time to apply for college. she committed to sacremento state and their mechanical engineering program. she had a recommendation letter from her shop teacher who'd taken her under his wing after her dad's death.

the three years she spent at sacramento state were good ones. she made friends and did decently well in her classes. it was the first time she was able to establish herself outside of charming and be separate from the club's reputation, from her mom and from her brother. of course she missed jax, but it was also the first time she wasn't a twin, she was just june. after her junior year of college, june was quietly expelled from sacramento state. she packed up her apartment and moved back home to charming. she didn't tell anyone the real reason why, just that she didn't want to do it anymore. the truth, she'd been at a party celebrating the end of the school year when a men attempted to assault her as she was coming out of the bathroom. she reacted by slamming his head into the back of the toilet and leaving him bleeding in the bathroom. instead of her assaulter being expelled, she was because she had reacted violently. instead of fighting for her right to attend university safely, she just went home. she was angry, but she knew she couldn't tell anyone what happened to her. if she told jax, she knew he'd ride up to sacramento and kill the guy. and he would deserve it, but june knew she would be the primary suspect and then they'd look to her family and their ties to SAMCRO. it would be too much mess. so she kept it too herself like she kept all her grief and anger inside after her dad and brother's deaths.

upon returning to charming, she cajoled herself into a job at the teller-morrow garage. she'd more than proved herself to be perfectly capable in the garage (and she threatened to go work for another mechanic's shop in town if her step-father didn't give her a job).

• she didn't initially intend to strong arm her way into prospecting with SAMCRO, but she overheard one of the members joke about it in a "at least we don't have june trying to join" way and decided that she would. she was sure her dad would have let her if he were still alive, but she wasn't sure about clay so she waited until after jax had a position of power to bring up the idea. one of the main points of contention as to whether having a woman prospect would make the club look week. june's argument was that plenty of the club's enemies had women within their ranks. she wasn't asking for a free patch, she just wanted the opportunity to work for it same as everyone else. she also argued that she grew up alongside the club, she knew what the guys got up to and wasn't about to make them stop on her account.

when it came to the mayhem vote, it took a lot of convincing to get any member of SAMCRO to vote for jax to meet mr. mayhem, but everyone knew june would never vote to kill her own brother. jax orchestrated the vote so that june wouldn't be present. the vote was held without her. she found out about the vote and jax's subsequent suicide after the fact.

after jax's death, june left charming. she stayed with SAMBEL in belfast with maureen and trinity ashby. she was running away and she knew it, but she was grieving and traumatized by so much loss all at once. it felt like losing thomas and her dad all over again. she stayed in belfast for three years before returning to charming and SAMCRO. she took her place at chibb's and tig's side as the club's secretary.
