JOSEFA TORRES

josefa catalina torres was born to graciela and olivar torres in miami, florida in march of 1995. from early on in her life, her parents wanted sefa to make something of herself. her mother was a stay at home housewife and her father owned a guitar shop with his brother. it was a family business, back in colombia, sefa's grandfather and great grandfather had a guitar shop as well. sefa's life was always filled with music. there was always music playing over the speakers in their home. she was taught to play guitar almost as soon as she learned to walk and speak. she also learned to dance and swim.

in school, sefa did alright, but she wasn't an academic in any way. she thrived in her social studies, language and physical education classes. she was energetic and always a bit hard for her teachers to control. they often sat her by quieter students in hopes that she would calm down. sometimes she did, but sometimes sefa would just make friends with them.

after high school, she went to college at tulane university in lousiana to study literature.. she had fun there, especially during mardi gras season. she would have stayed in new orleans had her roommate not gotten a job lined up in new york.

after college, sefa wanted to travel and she didn't have a job in her area of study lined up, so she became a flight attendant. it allowed her to do just that. she had a good four years of being a flight attendant. she especially enjoyed the overnights in distant places like tahiti, bali, morocco and prague. her ability to pick up languages helped her a lot when it came to her work. she was especially loved by the passengers who liked when she greeted or served them in their own language and made them feel comfortable on the flight. when she wasn't flying, she lived in an apartment in hell's kitchen.

that all came to an end when an object came hurtling out of the sky in malayasia. she was on a layover there, eating dinner when something left the body of a woman walking by and entered her's. it made her act erractic and she barely made it home. she lost her job a few days later. something, someone had bonded to her after the crash. it called itself venom.

she and venom had a rough time getting to know each other and for a while she wanted nothing more than to have him gone. it ate people, she was a vegetarian. it was crazy powerful, she didn't want those impulses. they came to an understanding though, venom would only eat bad people. when the life foundation, the owners of the rocket that crashed came looking for venom, there was a struggle that eventually culminated with two symbiotes fighting. 

her former roommate and close friend died when the effects of a vigilante's fight on their roof broke the fire suppression system and caused the building to burn down. sefa blamed areneid and her anger at the vigilante melded with venom's. they became the villain in her story.
