KIRBY BENNETT

kirby bennett was born to nicola and landon bennett in new zealand. her mother was a stay at home mom and her dad was a formula one driver. she grew up around mechanics, car people and other drivers. she loved going for drives with her mom and dad. they'd listen to music or just look at the stars when she couldn't sleep. her dad retired from racing when she was three and moved into stunt driving for new zealand's thriving film industry. kirby always loved watching her dad drive and it had her singular attention most of her life. she did alright in school, but didn't care much for it. it was a time suck to keep her from spending time figuring out how cars worked. 

she finally wore down her dad an he taught her how to drive when she was 14. it wasn't legal, but she wasn't doing any harm. she was completely supervised with a professional. when it was time, she got her license after the first time she took the test. they even had a party to celebrate when kirby was legally allowed to drive. she even got her own car, one she'd been working on with her dad over the course of the past year, but didn't know was for her.

at seventeen, kirby found out that her dad had decided to move to los angeles. he wanted to get more access to the film industry and he knew there was more work in the us. kirby was in her last year of school at the time. her dad promised her a position at his new shop if she stayed home and finished school. so that was exactly what she did. she finished her last year of school with her mom while her dad set up shop in la.

she got to los angeles at eighteen and kept living with her dad until she found her footing there at 21. she kept working with him, but she finally got her own apartment a few blocks away from her dad and about three miles from the shop. her dad had established bennett motors. he hired some of the drivers and mechanic he'd worked with back home as well as some who he'd worked with in the states. he had a reputation for being a good driver, and his resume was lengthy. it took a lot of work and effort to open the shop, but it wasn't a risk. he knew he could get work.

her dad didn't always love that his daughter wanted to be a driver like him. he tried to steer her towards mechanics. they always needed more mechanics in the pit and in the shop. he loved spending time with her, fixing cars and listening to music and audiobooks. kirby became an incredibly skilled mechanic, but he couldn't dissuade her from following in his footsteps. he sent her to a stunt driving school so he could insure she was taught by professionals. after that, he allowed her to work safer jobs. he wasn't going to start her out on a big job. she's been working up to that though.
