A game I made for the Golden Cobra 2023 competition
Based on three previously published Golden Cobra larps. It has two phases, a Dinner phase where characters introduce themselves, and a Blame phase where characters embody stages of grief with their actions
Inspired by the mechanic of unresolved grief from A Crow Funeral
Shaped characters and their identities off of characters in Wigilia
Pulled the idea of characters having dual identities (representing stages of grief and also normal characters) from The Bathhouse
How I iterated on it:
Initially, the character of Joseph did not have enough influence compared to The Plant in Wigilia, so I allowed Joseph to remove players entirely from a room during the Blame phase to feed into how grief is different for everyone
Originally, the character of The Chef was going to purposely cause Joseph's demise due to his stubbornness and refusal to change the recipe of torrone. I changed this because it clashed thematically and mechanically with the rest of the larp
