Heartbeat Soundtracker is currently the only music program that fully covers the sound capabilities of Commodore 64 Ultimate — all the 8 SIDs and 7 sampler channels.
One demo song and a Samples Playground template with a bunch of pre-loaded samples and SID instruments are included for a quick test drive. There's also 64 SID instrument presets always loaded in memory.
New features in version 1.01:
• New Jam mode (C= + J) lets you jam along or sketch melodies by playing notes on a free channel in the Pattern Editor
• Tied/portamento notes (Shift down) can now be played when entering notes or in Jam mode
• Follow/Record cursor is now vertically centered on the screen when scrolling
• Samples folder has doubled in size and now contains 128 samples (16-bit mono WAV)
• Setting a SID address to $0000 now turns off the SID in that slot
• New Hacker visualizer displays SID writes and some internal variables in hex/Latin-1
• New FAQ is included as a PDF and also in plain text (faq.txt), which can be viewed in the C64 Ultimate File Browser
Heartbeat Soundtracker is designed for the new Commodore 64 Ultimate, which you can order directly from Commodore. It has been also confirmed to run on the earlier Ultimate 64 Elite-II and even older Elite boards from Gideon's Logic, but some manual configuration may be required.
