Heartbeat Soundtracker is currently the only music program that fully covers the sound capabilities of Commodore 64 Ultimate — all the 8 SIDs and 7 sampler channels.

Composer's License is required for saving songs and loading wav samples, but other than that the free evaluation version is fully functional. See available registration options in the tracker itself by pressing the arrow left key.

One demo song, and a Samples Playground template with a bunch of pre-loaded samples and SID instruments are included for a quick test drive. There's also 64 SID instrument presets always loaded in memory.

Heartbeat Soundtracker is designed for the new Commodore 64 Ultimate, which you can order directly from Commodore. It has been also confirmed to run on the earlier Ultimate 64 Elite-II and even older Elite boards from Gideon's Logic, but some manual configuration may be required.

IMPORTANT - DO NOT USE USB! Due to a C64U firmware 1.1 bug, USB drives randomly disconnect when Ultimate Audio channels are in use, requiring unplugging and reinserting. At worst, this could lead to instability of the system. The C64U mod player has the same problem. This may be fixed in a future C64U firmware update.

Meanwhile, the internal microSD slot is extremely reliable and using that is very much recommended.
