This campaign is in correlation and support of the predicted grade system originally organised by canelthelc.com. They have their proposal on their website but I shall summaries it with our additions.
We propose a 4 stage system where:
We set up a percentage system divided somewhat between teachers estimations as well as previously achieved grades over the last two years. Teachers give their professional opinions on what grade the student would have received at in their exam, and the average of previous grades would be calculated accordingly. This process would also allow for students to have a recorded conversation over zoom, google meets, skype, etc to discuss with their teacher about their grade
The SEC would evaluate these results to make sure it would be conducted fairly and professionally
These results would be distributed among the students and students would be able to appeal their grade
By appealing your grade, you would sit your exam in august (as currently proposed by the government), and the result of this grade would replace the predicted grade you originally received
Concerning project work, students would be allowed to carry out the booklet work at home and submit them to their schools via post by a specific date. If the school does not receive the booklets by this date, the student will lose that percentage of their result. Of course, this would have to be organised with An Post, but that is a simple task if we supply the students with their examination envelopes when they are provided with project booklets.
Art students will only be graded on their booklets as well as the completed piece from section one.
The Links Module will be graded solely on your portfolio. The exam would not go ahead and the 40% will be included in the grading of your portfolio.
This proposal is not full proof and still requires work to be done to it but gives the general gist of the predicted grade system. We hope to submit a full proposal in the coming weeks.
For those who wish to take their exams on the 29th of July, absolutely, you should be accommodated with these exams going ahead. We propose that soon after the predicted grade results are released, students will be able to opt in to take the Leaving Certificate Examinations if you so feel.
