Spring has sprung! And what a busy month it's been!

As a reflexologist, people often reach out to me with the hope to achieve positive results: reduced stress levels, increased energy, improved sleep, less headaches as well as less aches and pains amongst many other things.

Very often my clients come to me as a last resort once all other options have been exhausted to find relief from their symptoms or/and medical conditions. 

Reflexology is a supportive therapy (not a replacement for medical treatments) and can positively help to handle the long term management of aches, pains and other medical issues - empowering you to regain some level of control over health issues. Clients have often tried all sorts before they come to me: from seeing their GP,  improving their diet and exercise levels, taking painkillers and other medications and really trying everything they can to improve their health and wellbeing. Whilst reflexology isn't a cure, I'm fortunate to witness time and time again the incredible benefits of this therapy which can often be life changing in many cases and can offer so much relief.

With the beginning of this year hitting off to a great kick start with some lovely events, I've been reminded to not loose sight of giving a healthy respect for balancing out work time and rest time. How important it is for our wellbeing, that the one aspect complements the other. Are you getting enough rest to rejuvenate and recharge from your work load? Are you working mindfully and proactively enough so that when it comes to rest you can totally switch off from your work life and really relax? And among all of that, are you making space for all the other important things, like family time, exercise and planning healthy meals?

Carve a little time out for yourself and allow everything to slow down for a moment with a pampering treatment. A bit of quality time for you to recharge and reground - ready to conquer all of life stresses and challenges with a clear mind and positive energy.

Following on from last month's blog that I posted, I'm delighted to share when I'm not working from my home based salon in Poole or on home visits, I'll be working from The Beauty Studio Blandford at number 2 Tabernacle Walk in Blandford forum every 1st Wednesday of the month. 

There will now be a variety of amazing therapists on different days offering lots of different pamper treatments.

So to celebrate this exciting collab, we had a relaunch party that went down really well to introduce all the wonderful new therapies on offer from this salon.

🍁🍂 Autumn Market - Hamworthy Club, Sunday 9th OCTOBER 2022

Welcoming my new salon administrator, Jodie to the team at Healing Touch Reflexology, she made a great debut on her first day of work helping me on her first event with me, where I offered reflexology treatments for just £20 for 20min at the Aumtun Market at Hamworthy club.        There were a wonderful variety of stalls selling all sorts of lovely gifts and offering therapies and Jodie was such an amazing help on her 1st day there. So a huge warm welcome to Jodie who has officially joined Healing Touch Reflexology where she will be taking on some important duties in the salon, managing the salon administration and   ensuring a smoother process for my clients. This will also allow me to focus more attention on each of my lovely clients and give you an even better experience.

With a wonderful variety of readings and therapies as well as stalls of beautiful gifts for the mind, body & soul, I really can't wait for the next one!

After meeting a fellow holistic therapist at one of my recent events, it's been a real pleasure to do therapy swaps together. Emma is a beautiful being inside and out and she helps people with Theta Healing. This module was completely new to me but what a pleasant surprise it was and if you haven't had it before, I really recommend it! The experience has been truly life changing and the effects were immediate. Over the last few months, Emma and I have been meeting up to swap therapies like reflexology and this has really helped me to tune in with how it feels to receive it and reminded me of the amazing benefits you feel after having a reflexology treatment. This has been really helpful for my personal and professional growth & development I'm so grateful to have met someone to do swaps with.

Sunny spring has sprung and I'm really grateful to have acomplished something so special to me and close to my heart by successfully completing my Usui Reiki Level 1 and 2 practitioner and Usui Reiki Master qualifications. I'm so thankful to be on this journey of healing and growth,  and especially excited to help spread more love and light into this world.

I've also got myself a lovely little car so that I'm now able to offer more mobile visits and participate in more events which is such a blessing I am so pumped up about. I'm so full of joy and gratitude at this new found freedom that allows me to give more and be more accessible to my lovely client's. I look forward to seeing you out and about and hope you have a beautiful love-filled month of May!

During reflexology treatments, I will always give you the option to wear the wonderful Kenko Power Sleep Eye Mask by Nikken if you choose. The mask is fully disinfected in between each client for health and safety purposes. The main reason I encourage wearing this amazing eye mask in session is because the mask contains these special magnets that can really support you to deeply relax and enjoy your treatment even more. It feels like this summer has come and gone so fast.

My treatment room has been freshly redecorated and it's such a lovely space to now relax in. 

I've seen lots of feet and lots of smiles this summer, and in the background I've been quietly working on one of my favorite mini-projects to date with the help of my amazingly skilled niece, Kaelyn. A media student at the local college, she' s been helping me to produce a video for my website and social media that will give you a flavor of the wonderful reflexology experience that awaits you when you book  a treatment with me. It will also highlight some of the other therapeutic elements that I offer too, in addition to (or sometimes incorporated within) your reflexology treatment.

I am so happy to be back doing what I love.

To be able to return to work and see my lovely clients has been ever so energizing and good for the soul.

I've been getting some wonderful positive feedback from my clients with the new acupressure treatments I now offer in addition to reflexology.

Did you know?

Acupressure is an ancient healing art, applying gentle pressure to key healing pressure points on the body, to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities.

Targeting any issues you may be having, like aches and pains in the back, shoulders, neck, hips, etc... releasing tension, and providing deep relaxation - acupressure can support with providing pain relief and helping your body to find balance. 

My clients often say to me how I provide more than just a relaxing reflexology treatment but also helpful advice and solutions to their issues.

Many of my clients who come to me use reflexology as a supportive therapy to complement their other treatments when addressing conditions like sciatica, restless leg syndrome, lupus, or it be related to nerve function, energy levels, sleeping troubles, aches and pains, or recovering from an injury/illness. - There are many things I am helping to support my client’s with, using reflexology, along with gentle acupressure and/or gua sha therapy. 

Reflexology can help to complement alongside the usual treatment of many common ailments and can provide much needed relief from the day to day stresses of modern life both physically and emotionally

The relaxation lasts beyond your treatment and you’re likely to enjoy improved sleep and a spring in your step afterwards too!

The past months have seen me shipping my prints all over the world and I'm utterly thrilled each time I receive an order for a new country. For the very first time though at the beginning of the month I have ran out of stock of my prints that I sell on my Etsy shop here. A visit to the printers is one of the first things on my mind when I re-open for business after the 12th April.

I've dedicated the the first couple months of this year to improving my therapies and therapy space as well as setting up my new Redbubble shop where you can buy all sorts of amazing reflexology themed products: from clocks, pillows, t-shirts and throws, to stickers, postcards and phone cases just to name a few of my personal favourites.

I'm really exited about expanding my reflexology product range and using this new platform to offer more wonderful reflexology based products.

I wanted to share I am developing ways to better support my clients, having recently certified in acupressure to offer you the best out of your reflexology sessions with an all-round holistic treatment - I’ll also be undergoing my Reiki training during this 2nd lockdown, which I have just began. 

I’ll be taking some of this time off as well to re-charge but I will be available through the month of November to hold one-on-one video calls on ZOOM, to support with self-care pressure points, de-stressing and relaxation. Taking the opportunity to read all the reflexology books I've wanted to study during the past few months of lockdown has been a really positive opportunity to develop my knowledge and grow my reflexology skills.

Alongside this, I've enjoyed keeping my training fresh and studying online, I'm so ready and pumped up to return to work, I'm keeping an eager eye on the government updates, hoping they will allow the industry to re-open our doors.

Staying informed with all the latest health & safety guidelines and preparing/assessing all aspects of health & safety for returning to work when the government gives the OK to re-open has been at the center of my thoughts this month.

In the meantime, checking the latest government guidance, guidance off the WHO (World Health Organization), the NHS and your professional association (such as the Federation of Holistic Therapists) is key prior to when we are given the green light to start working again to ensure every precaution is taken in up keeping the safety and well being of clients.

I've been working away on my latest reflexology map of the hands which is now available to buy from my shop with 3 different backgrounds to choose from and thought I'd share a little with you on here my design process for my maps.

I've also included a video (see below) of a snippet of my final process before painting in the colours.

In the 1st part of the design process, I draw the part of the body I want to illustrate the reflex points for (in this case, the hands) and then separately I break down and draw out all the  anatomy of the body that I want to show the reflex points for until I'm satisfied witch each bone and organ. I then measure EVERYTHING!! :)This is a really important part as it's key to the next step, which is to re-draw out all the anatomy to scale with the size of the hands drawn at the beginning.

Once everything is to scale I get out the scissors and glue - cutting out all my drawings of anatomy. On the provision of my earlier calculations being correct, I puzzle the pieces together onto my drawing of the hands and stick them down.

With everything then put together and roughly on my dozenth piece of paper for this project, I re-draw the whole thing. Then once I've finished drawing that, I rub out a good 40% of the drawing away to correct the positioning of the anatomy reflex points on the hands.

Once everything looks satisfactory, so that the picture is not smudged with rubber marks, I fine pencil draw it out one final time, ready to add the outlines before painting... The outlining part is what I enjoy the most, check out the video below! :)

I'm currently in the early stages of designing my next reflexology map for the hands, I'm on the 2nd stage out of the 6 steps I take to design my maps before it will eventually look something like my usual reflexology map paintings. It's somewhat vague at this stage but still interesting to look at and can be used as a basic map for support during online video sessions with me.

Reaching new milestones

I've adjusted my business to continue working from home offering online virtual video reflexology and relaxation sessions during this time of uncertainty so that I can continue to support and be there for my clients. 

My business, like many other small businesses has been suffering a massive hit this past month as I have had to close doors due to the current situation but I am feeling positive about moving forward offering one on one online reflexology and relaxation sessions as well as weekly group virtual sessions on Tuesdays to continue to be able to offer my support and services to all.

What insight I have taken out of this is that it has opened my mind to widen the scope of what I offer by eliminating any boundaries of distance and providing a service to anyone in the world by moving to an online platform.

I can't wait to be able to see clients face to face again, but until then, I want you to know I am always here for you. 💜

PRO TOUCH AWARENESS MONTH - October 2019

In October of 2019 I took part in pro-touch awareness month by giving away free taster reflexology sessions. The highlight of my month was taking part in a Silver Sundays event for seniors hosted by Homeinstead where I had the opportunity to connect with and give our free reflexology taster sessions to the elderly and some of the carers.

Alongside this, I also threw in a cheeky special offer to all my clients for the month of October....

To my surprise, I was totally thrilled to receive the following e-mail on the 08th November 2019:
