Reading & Writing 6th Narrative 

Students will be provided with instruction focused on enhancing reading of fiction and narrative writing skills at a sixth grade level. Students will have time to engage in reading fiction, writing creatively, and sharing writing pieces with classmates.

Standards Covered: Narrative writing techniques will include dialogue, description and pacing to develop events, use of concrete words, phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events. These same techniques will be identified in fictional passages read during the class. There will also be a focus on making inferences, comparing story elements such as setting, and identifying theme.
