"The ocean is full of incredible animals that teach us about life, nature, and how everything is connected. Learning about these creatures helps us understand the world around us and how we can protect it."
Dive deep into the wonders of the ocean in this hands-on, interactive science class! Under the Sea Science explores the fascinating world beneath the waves, from vibrant coral reefs to mysterious deep-sea creatures. Each week, students will engage in fun, hands-on activities, experiments, and crafts that bring ocean science to life.
In this class, students will create their own ocean ecosystems in jars, building mini aquariums with sand, water, and plants. They will design and test "submarines" using household materials to explore how objects float or sink in water. Students will also make their own ocean slime to understand how jellyfish move and conduct an experiment simulating a whale's blowhole to explore how whales breathe. There will be time to craft too, making seashell rubbings to learn about the textures and patterns of different shells, and designing colorful seashell mosaics to explore the diversity of marine life.
This class encourages collaboration, creativity, and scientific exploration, giving students a deeper appreciation for the ocean and the life within it. Students will leave with a strong foundation in marine science and unforgettable hands-on memories of their underwater adventures!
All students in grades TK-5 are welcome!
