HCPT is a UK-based Catholic charity that provides life-changing pilgrimage experiences to Lourdes for children and adults with disabilities, complex medical needs, and social challenges of all faiths, and none. Every Easter and Summer, HCPT brings together thousands of volunteers, medical professionals, and chaplains to support pilgrims in a joyful, inclusive, and faith-filled environment. To support the finance team with the effective delivery of day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of income, payments, invoices, and financial transactions.
The role contributes to the smooth running of financial systems and processes, supporting colleagues, volunteers, donors, and suppliers, and ensuring high standards of accuracy, compliance, and service.
The post holder will also provide support across wider finance activities, including basic financial reporting, audit preparation, and maintaining financial controls, while assisting with key organisational activities such as pilgrimages and ongoing transformation projects.
Financial Processing & Administration
Process Gift Aid claims in line with HMRC regulations and organisational procedures
Record and process income received (post, online payments, and other sources), ensuring accurate allocation
Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and payment runs accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Assist with basic reconciliation of financial data where required
Assist with posting basic journals under supervision
Payments, Income & Financial Transactions
Process online payments and ensure accurate recording within financial systems
Take payments over the phone in accordance with organisational procedures and security standards
Allocate incoming payments correctly and resolve basic discrepancies
Support high-volume financial data entry and transaction processing
Monitor incoming payments and assist with basic credit control follow-up
Finance Systems, Reporting & Compliance Support
Manage the finance inbox, responding to queries or directing them appropriately
Provide support to staff, volunteers, donors, and suppliers with finance-related queries
Assist with preparation of basic financial reports and data for the finance team
Support audit preparation by maintaining organised and accurate documentation
Help ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and controls
Contribute to maintaining and improving financial systems and processes
Operational & Event Support
Support financial preparations for key organisational activities, including Easter and summer pilgrimages
Assist with financial administration linked to events, including tracking payments and resolving queries
Provide additional finance support during peak operational periods
Contribute to wider organisational transformation and improvement initiatives
General Responsibilities
Carry out general finance administration and ad hoc duties as required
Ensure compliance with organisational policies, financial controls, and best practice
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling financial information
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation

The ability to travel to Lourdes for two weeks each Easter to deliver the largest annual event for the charity.
An understanding of HCPT’s spirituality, mission and values

Experience in a finance or accounts-related role within a charity or SME
Basic understanding of financial controls, reporting, or accounting processes
Experience supporting audits or financial reporting processes
Experience working in Catholic diocesan structures, with faith-based organisations or in the charity or not-for-profit sector
Experience working in cross-cultural environments
