The Harlingen CISD recognizes a student’s successful completion of a CTE pathway as an indicator of their college and career readiness. Through CTE programs of study, students are able to obtain recognized industry certifications that will put them in the “front of the line” when applying for jobs or acceptance to colleges and universities.
With 12 CTE Academies consisting of 12 national Career Clusters and 165 different CTE course offerings. This includes 35 industry certifications that follow workforce high pay high demand occupations that are aligned to our vision and mission of the HCISD CTE Department. The CTE teachers are talented, experienced and caring; our supportive staff are professional and ready to help students continue a pathway after graduation. CTE provides students with classroom opportunities throughout their middle and high school years such as career assessments, work-based learning experiences, and the ability to earn college credit while in high school. In addition, all of our Academies possess Advisory Committees, made up of our teachers and our business and industry partners. These committees provide advice and guidance to what is expected of our students once they graduate.
