South Korea is one of the leading countries in the HCI field with a great research environment. Graduate students in Korean institutions still experience different types of difficulties that come with linguistic, geographic, and cultural barriers compared to those in North America. Also, less information is shared on scholarships, internships, employment, and networking for successful, world-class research careers. Therefore, we invite panelists who have been continuing successful research careers though they earned their Ph.D. in Korea. The panelists will introduce their academic journeys and share the know-how gained through trial and error. We hope that the audience (including students who are considering entering a Ph.D. program at HCI graduate school in South Korea or are currently in an HCI graduate program in South Korea) will find motivation and be able to take a step further as world-class researchers in HCI field through building broader experiences and building diverse connections.
Hi there!
We invite you to join this panel talk where we have four young recently appointed HCI PhDs from various disciplines (CS, design, AI...) to share their experience in academic journey in South Korea.
The panel will be moderated by professor Jaeyeon Lee from UNIST. During the panel talk, the audience will be allowed to ask questions and get to know tips for a successful future career!
Please join us :-)
