The 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will open on October 1st, 2022! The resources below will help you with this process and keep track of the information you will need to complete the application. Don't forget that you can always reach out to your college adviser to help you with your FAFSA!

Before starting the FAFSA process, it is important to verify that you are eligible to receive federal financial aid. Read through this graphic or go to this link to learn about the eligibility requirements.

The first step of the FAFSA process is creating your FSA ID. This will serve as your username and password for the Federal Student Aid website, and will allow you to electronically sign your FAFSA. The student and one parent both need to create separate FSA IDs.

22-23 Priority FAFSA Deadlines

Make sure to list all colleges that you are applying for on your FAFSA when you fill it out. To be eligible for as much financial aid as possible, submit your FAFSA and college applications by the deadlines listed below.

  • Avila University: February 1

  • Baker University: March 15

  • Donnelly College: April 1

  • Johnson County Community College: March 15

  • Kansas City Art Institute: February 1

  • Kansas City Kansas Community College: April 1

  • Kansas State University: December 1

  • Lincoln University: April 1

  • Metropolitan Community College: February 1

  • Park University: February 1

  • Rockhurst University: February 1

  • University of Central Missouri: February 1

  • University of Kansas: February 1

  • University of Missouri-Columbia: January 7

  • University of Missouri-Kansas City: February 1

  • Western Governors University: Rolling (apply anytime)

If you are applying to a private college, you may have to complete the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA. The CSS Profile is a more in-depth look at your finances.
