Meet the Directors!

Stephanie Lewis is in her 22nd year of teaching, year 20 in FCPS. Her passion is to guide students to love and encourage participation in music through our their lives. Ms. Lewis is currently teaching elementary orchestra at Hayfield Elementary, and intermediate orchestra, music theory and AP music theory at Hayfield Secondary. She also serves as the performing arts department chair at Hayfield Secondary. Ms. Lewis graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master's in Music Performance with an emphasis in instrumental conducting. She has attended The University of Michigan, Mannes Conservatory and Old Dominion University for continuing education. She has been a member of the FCPS Music Curriculum writing team and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2016 with a degree in educational leadership and public educational policy. Her extracurricular activities include hiking with her 2 jack Russell terriers; Sadie and Hunter Lincoln, participating in terrier trails and reading.

Kerri Shelfo has been an orchestra director with Fairfax County Public Schools since 2003 and has 19 years of string teaching experience in grades Pre-K through university undergraduates. She graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and from the University of Maryland with a Master of Arts in Music Education. She also holds a graduate certificate from the University of Pennsylvania in Arts & Culture Leadership. Mrs. Shelfo has presented her research on teaching music to special learners at national and state conferences, as well as published articles in state and regional association journals. She was a member of the most recent orchestra curriculum writing team for Fairfax County Public Schools. When Mrs. Shelfo isn't making music with Hayfield Secondary students, she enjoys yoga, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.
