Greetings,
This is Mr. Butler. I hope this message finds you well and looking forward to a great year! I wanted to send a special note to the virtual families with some key details that will impact your planning in the next few months.
Commitment:
This is a reminder that each virtual family is being asked to commit to the following:
Attending class each day and on-time
Completing assigned tasks in the time frame requested by the teacher
Being a virtual family for the semester
Taking the needed steps to care for the learning device and materials
Attend assessment session
Ask for support
Registration:
Virtual classes are beginning to fill up which means that families are being placed on the waitlist.
Teachers:
This week, teachers will reach out to their families. Earlier this summer, I shared the names of teachers with families. Due to a few staffing changes, some families will meet a new teacher this week. Meet the teacher night is on July 26th, next week, and will happen over ZOOM for virtual families from 6:15PM - 7:30PM. Teachers will send the ZOOM link on or before Monday afternoon.
Materials:
On July 26th, from 1PM to 3PM, families can come and pick up their first quarter books from the building. Some materials may be on backorder. Families might be asked to return at a later time to gather any items that were not handed out. ***Families should purchase the school supplies on this LIST.
Testing:
Virtual students will take the following assessments in-person:
NWEA / All Grades / Three times a year
The first NWEA assessment will be on August 19th for all grades and will take the entire day.
More information to come soon.
IREAD / Third Grade / Late Spring
ILEARN / Third and Fourth Graders / Late Spring
Picture Day:
Right now, virtual picture day will take place in late August. More information to come.
Meals:
Chartwells is currently working with the Township to organize food distribution for virtual students. More information to come.
Please feel free to reach out with questions, and keep an eye out for the weekly HawkTalk.
