3 NATIONAL O-EVENTS AT SOTRA, NEAR BERGEN, NORWAY
29-30'th of June 2024
This is a warmup event for Fjord-O, July 3.-7, together with Bergen City Orienteering Sprint, Tuesday July 2'.
LOCATION/TRAVEL:
IL Gular invite you to two spectacular middle-distance races and one sprint distance race in the sea gap near the village of Telavåg, approx. 35 km from the "coastal capital" of Norway, Bergen. The district offers various accommodation options including a hotel approx. 15 km from Telavåg. In addition, we will organize an o-camp with space for camper vans, tents and indoor (on the floor) accomodation adjacent to the race assembly.
If you come to Bergen by public transport, the journey to Telavåg can continue from the bus station, close by the railway station, see skyss.no. If you come by private car, simply drive westwards from Bergen towards Sotra, cross over the Sotra Bridge and then on towards Telavåg. If you come by sea, you can anchor up near the assembly place.
MAP/TERRAINS:
Two new maps are being prepared. Both races take place in "knotty" easy-running open coastal terrain. The sprint race takes place around Spildepollen recreation area, about 3 km from the assembly area and 4 km from the scenic costal village Glesvær. Below are some snapshots from the maps (under developlment) and some real life pictures of the race areas.
