PRIVACY POLICY
Habit Tracker
1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy describes how Habit Tracker ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This app was built with a privacy-first approach — your data stays on your device.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We do NOT collect any personal information. The app does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, or location.
The only data the app creates and stores is:
a) Habit Data
- Habit name (entered by you)
- Habit description (entered by you, optional)
- Selected icon (emoji chosen by you)
- Selected category (chosen by you)
- Selected color (chosen by you)
- Date and time the habit was created
b) Completion Records
- Habit ID reference
- Completion date (in yyyy-MM-dd format)
- Timestamp of when the habit was marked complete
All of the above data is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device using Android Room (database name: habit_tracker_database). This data never leaves your device.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
The data stored on your device is used solely to:
- Display your list of habits on the home screen
- Track and show your daily completion progress
- Calculate your current and best habit streaks
- Show your last 7 days completion history
- Calculate your overall completion rate
- Allow you to edit or delete your habits
We use this data only to provide the core functionality of the app. We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any other purpose.
4. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES
We do NOT share your data with any third party. The app:
- Does NOT connect to the internet
- Does NOT use any analytics SDK (such as Firebase, Google Analytics, or Mixpanel)
- Does NOT use any advertising SDK (such as AdMob or Meta Audience Network)
- Does NOT use any crash reporting service (such as Crashlytics or Sentry)
- Does NOT send any data to our servers (we have no servers)
- Does NOT use any third-party libraries that collect data
The only external dependencies the app uses are standard Android Jetpack libraries (Room, LiveData, ViewModel, ConstraintLayout, Material Components) provided by Google for building Android apps. These libraries do not collect or transmit any user data.
5. PERMISSIONS
This app requests NO special Android permissions. It does not request access to:
- Camera
- Microphone
- Location (GPS)
- Contacts
- Phone state
- Storage / Files
- Internet / Network
- Notifications (no push notifications are sent)
- Any other sensitive device permission
The app functions entirely without requiring any permissions beyond the default app installation.
6. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
All app data is stored locally on your device in a private application database. This database is:
- Stored in the app's private internal storage directory
- Not accessible by other apps on your device (Android sandboxing)
- Automatically deleted if you uninstall the app
- Not backed up to any external server
We rely on Android's built-in security model to protect your data. However, note that if your device is rooted or compromised, local app data may be accessible to other software with elevated privileges.
The app sets android:allowBackup="true" in its configuration, which means Android's system-level backup (e.g. Google Drive backup) may back up your habit data as part of a standard device backup. This backup is managed by Android and Google, not by us. You can disable app backups in your Android settings if you prefer.
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
This app does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal data from any users, there is no specific risk to children. The app is safe for all ages.
8. YOUR DATA RIGHTS
Since all data is stored only on your device, you have full control:
- Access: You can view all your data directly within the app at any time.
- Edit: You can edit any habit by tapping the edit icon on the detail screen.
- Delete: You can delete any individual habit (and all its history) from the detail screen. Deleting a habit permanently removes all associated completion records.
- Delete all: You can delete all your data by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored habit data permanently.
We have no access to your data and therefore cannot provide, export, or delete it on your behalf.
9. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
