Micro Soldering & Repairs Services
HFR can resolve & repair a wide range of failed electronics through diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair. As a general rule of thumb please read and follow the instructions outlined in the request for repair, repair quote, invoicing, and BRD sections outlined below.
Restorations For Vintage Electronics Services
Sometimes you may have a device that is antique or something passed down from generation to generation. HFR also provides restoration services for old electronics. If interested in having a restoration accomplished please submit a "Request for Repair" as indicated above. The form indicates that you are seeking a restoration service for an antique electronic device. Restorations are time-consuming efforts so parts, labor, and work that goes into a restoration will be handled differently that a typical repair-type service. This will require additional communication between the customer and HFR as sometimes restoration is more expensive than the device being repaired. HRF will send the customer a "Quote for Restoration" for an agreed-upon restoration service. Upon restoration of the device, if the customer agrees to the quote, the customer will receive an "Invoice for Restoration" which must be paid prior to shipment of the item back to the customer.
Vehicle Computerized Diagnostics and Adaptation Services
All services depend on year/make/model but generally speaking any late 90s - Current Year Vehicle. Customers receive zero charges for a service that cannot be performed on their vehicle. Most modern vehicles (notably European Vehicles included in this service) require some form of adaption post-repair. This cannot be performed without expensive equipment that allows a mechanic to interface with the different onboard computers built into a vehicle. Since this service requires access to the customer's vehicle to perform HFR cannot accept any mail-in parts to perform this service. You will need to be in the local area for this service to be performed with the vehicle you need this service performed on. Please email/submit a "Request for Repair" outlining what diagnostic service and/or adaptation is needed. HFR will contact you and we can work out the time and place for this service at that point.
Data Recovery Services
HRF can perform minimum data recovery services on HDD, SSDs, thumb drives, and memory cards so long as the defective components enable recovery. If interested in data recovery please submit a "Request for Repair" indicating in the form that you are specifically looking for data recovery services. After the devices is inspected HFR will send a "Quote for Data Recovery" if data recovery is possible or a "Beyond Repair Invoice" if recovery is not feasible. After data is recovered customer will receive an "Invoice for Data Recover" and must pay prior to shipment of items back to the customer.
Request for Repair
1) Click or Touch "Request for Repair Form" via the link located at either the top or bottom of this section and select "File>Download>Word Document (.docx)"
2) Save "Request for Repair Form" to your desktop then fill and email to havingfunrepairs@gmail.com and include "Request for Repair [Item Name]" in the subject line and replace "Item Name" with the name of the item you are seeking repair on. Only one request form per item, please!
3) You will receive an initial "Quote for Inspection" in your email (in some cases you may need to check your spam folder). If you have not received a quote within 48 hours please email havingfunrepairs@gmail.com and include "Where Is My Quote?" in the subject line.
Note: This is not the final repair cost. The Quote for Inspection only covers the inspection fee your device to determine the component(s) that need replacement.
4) Accept the terms of the Quote for Inspection by providing a signature on the document and emailing it to havingfunrepairs@gmail.com.
5) Mail the item to the business address at the bottom of this page and include a copy of the Quote for Inspection in the package with the item.
Note: Including a copy of the quote will assist with your item being matched up and placed in the appropriate queue for repair once received. Highly recommend you insure your item and use adequate packing material as HFR does not accept responsibility for any item(s) that is/are received with damage by the carrier and/or lost/stolen in transit. Feel free to take pictures of your item and include them with the packaged item or in your email reply in the Quote for Inspection. I am more than happy to compare it with how the item is received on my end if there are any concerns and can provide an email to you if you want confirmation of how the item was received.
Quote for Repair & Invoice for Repair
1) Your device, once received, will be placed in a queue for inspection. Once out of the queue your device will go into an inspection to determine the root cause of defects.
2) After the inspection you will receive a Quote for Repair and you will have two options:
Option A: You choose to move forward with the repair. After the repair is completed you will receive an "Invoice for Repair" including itemized parts cost, labor charge, and shipping cost. Additionally, the inspection fee is waived for items that go under repair. If your item was shipped to HRF with insufficient packing material the cost of adequate materials will also be included in the final invoice and itemized as an "Additional Material Charge" ($5) and must be paid by the customer. All final payments must be made prior to shipping/return of the item. Currently accepting payment via PayPal @ https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/havingfunrepairs
Note: Include your invoice # in the "What is this payment for?" section in PayPal. This will ensure your payment is matched to your invoice number.
Once payment is received item will be shipped back to the customer via one of the three main carriers (USPS or UPS or FedEx) and the customer will receive an email with tracking information.
Option B: You choose to not move forward with the repair. You will receive an "Invoice for Inspection" with an inspection fee and shipping cost.
Note: Customer delay in payment will result in a delay in shipment.
Beyond Repairable Devices (BRD)
Unfortunately, sometimes a device is beyond repair. This occurs if items on your device can no longer be sourced or if your device was damaged beyond a repairable level. If your device is beyond repair you will receive a "Beyond Repair Invoice" identifying why this determination was made. In the event of a beyond-repair condition, your final invoice will still consist of the inspection fee and shipping costs. This will cover the device inspection and shipping and must be paid prior to the return of the item following the same PayPal payment method mentioned above.
Warranty Information
HFR provides a warranty (45 days from the outbound ship date) of only the specific repair that was paid for by the customer. If the customer's item is broken upon receiving it, and it is not the portion of the item that was previously repaired, this will not be covered under the HFR warranty. To seek a warranty, email havingfunrepairs@gmail.com and include "Warranty Request for Invoice [AA###]" in the subject line including your specific Invoice Number which starts with two letters followed by three numbers.
Key Terms
Inspection Fee: The inspection fee is non-negotiable. However, items that have been repaired will NOT have the inspection fee on their invoice. The inspection fee will only be used to cover work associated with the device prior to denial of repair by the customer or a beyond-repair determination by HRF. Thus if your device is repairable and has been repaired you will NOT be charged this fee.
On Hold for Higher Labor Repair: This indicates your item is still in the queue while another device is being worked on.
Under Inspection: Your device is currently on the bench and is under evaluation for defect and fault determination.
On Hold Awaiting Parts: This indicates your device was inspected and is awaiting parts for repair.
Under Repair: This indicates your device is currently on the bench and being repaired.
Awaiting Payment: This indicates your device is currently awaiting payment action from the customer prior to shipment.
Awaiting Shipment: Indicates all obligations have been met for shipment of the device back to the customer and the device is currently awaiting shipment back.
Shipped and Closed: This indicates your device is shipped. HFR will email customers any shipment tracking information for situational awareness.
Status of Repair
Communication is key and HFR understands this. You are trusting HFR with your devices to provide a quality repair and ensure you receive your item back in a respectable timeframe. If you have any concerns please email havingfunrepairs@gmail.com with the subject line "Status Inquiry".
