HOUSE OF SPIRITS: TALE OF CASA VEGA 2024 REVIEW
- LOS ANGELES, CA

Formerly known as “Haunted Soiree: A Macabre Cocktail Party” for 1 year, this premium cocktail theatre experience has changed it's name back to the original "House Of Spirits".  We mentioned last season that it would fare much better in terms of searches and buzz words; so we are glad to see it be known as how it was originally.

House Of Spirits 2024:  Experience

Hosted once again inside their new in-house production theatre; House Of Spirits once again delivered an unforgettable experience.  Unlike other interactive theatre experiences where you are able to roam and get led on a tour; there are no minors here since it involves cocktails.  You get 5 cocktails that are inspired by this year's theme and storyline.  The synopsis according to Meyer2Meyer reads:

"Freely roam a sinister open-world cocktail party at Casa Vega, the haunted home of Francisco and Molly Vega. After the mysterious death of their child Little Magpie, Francisco and Molly find themselves tormented by a strange entity that haunts the shadows of their home. You will have 2 hours at Casa Vega to savor a flight of mini craft cocktails and get immersed in the chilling lore. Loosely based on spooky real-life inspirations—including Spanish painter Francisco Goya, his famous Black Paintings, and several other Spanish folktales—the eerie affairs waiting inside Casa Vega are sure to thrill and entertain. "

We appreciated the Nocturne Theatre as the experience's new home because there is really no way to get lost in there compared to the other experiences that were in different venues each year.  The way this venue is structured, you can basically hug the walls and you'll discover everything with no map or directions needed.  The only hints or directions you really need will materialize and be revealed to you once you partake in some dialogue and character interaction.  Though it is perfectly fine to just roam and around and enjoy the set pieces and costumes and performances with your cocktail, or even get some air with it on the balcony.  However, we found the interaction to be a bit of a fun scavenger hunt that's somewhat challenging and definitely entertaining to learn of the stories of these awakened spirits.  The actors here have always been on point and great at their roles; nobody breaks character here especially when they insult you!  Depending on which ticket you purchase; it could be rewarding when you're talking to these spirits as we've been rewarded some premium chocolate in an elegant gift box.  The interaction with these spirits will make the story make sense, but if not, then hell you can always ask the giant wall-sized Ouija board that has become a fan-favorite and staple at the House of Spirits.

House Of Spirits 2024: Conclusion

Hats off to Meyer2Meyer Entertainment for making this the best one yet.  We've realized that with no maze this year and what felt like less things to figure out; we were able to get through to everything and talk to all the spirits.  Since there was only a 2-hour limit, we appreciated that there was less to do this year.  We felt that the "less is more" approach, especially in this experience, allows us ample time to fully enjoy the cocktail and the stories of each spirit.  Our ultimate wish for the future will be to see it become a 2.5-hour experience, 30 minutes for each cocktail.
