I am a Professor at the Department of Finance, Jagannath University, Dhaka, and a non-resident fellow at the Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability (CDES), Monash University (Australia). Previously, I worked as a lecturer at the Department of Finance and Banking, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Trishal, Mymensingh.
In addition to my responsibilities in teaching and research, I am actively engaged in consultancy work. I serve as an independent consultant for several esteemed organisations, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bangladesh, the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Nijera Kori, Grameen Euglena, and Oxfam Bangladesh.
I hold a PhD in Economics from Monash University (Australia), an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Reading (UK), and an MBA in Finance from the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh). I have also completed my BBA in Finance from the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh).
My current research interests, among others, include education, human development, climate change, etc. I have published my papers in the Economic Journal, Journal of Political Economy Microeconomics, Energy Economics, Economics of Education Review, AEA Papers and Proceedings, and other peer-reviewed journals.
