Hartford Public Schools’ Central Office folks will soon be moving out of Bulkeley High School, at least temporarily.
While renovations continue at Bulkeley, the City of Hartford will be leasing the 9th floor of 280 Trumbull St. for use by HPS. Hartford will enter into a 28-month lease with Grunberg Realty for the bargain price of $40,363.67 a month, bringing the lease total to $1,130,182. Advertised square foot rental price for 280 Trumbull St. has been $22/sq. ft. This lease equates to a $17/sq. ft. rental price.
Over the past year, 280 Trumbull St. tenants Prudential and the law firm of Robinson & Cole have cut back on their rental of multiple floors in the building as COVID brought on a new work culture in America, the hybrid workplace strategy. This strategy covers various models of workers choosing to work from home and/or from the office. An April 2022 survey found that 77% of companies have adopted some form of the hybrid workplace strategy.
Meanwhile, back to real life, at least 379 people showed up at the Capital this past week for a Public Meeting before the Legislature’s Housing Committee to debate H.B. 6588, a bill that would cap rent increases in Connecticut.
