While giving a monthly financial update to the Hartford Schools Board of Education, Deputy Superintendent (of something or other) Paul Foster mentioned that 260 “positions” throughout HPS were paid for through the use of COVID Relief funds. These “positions” range from central office folk, teachers, paraprofessionals, and even janitors (no offense to janitors).
As HPS’ $155 million share of COVID money will be but a fond memory for the superintendent by the start of next school year, many of these 260 folks will soon be called ex-employees of Hartford Public Schools. So don’t harass your principal because his budget will only allow him to hire one Spanish teacher for twenty-two classes, bring your harassment to a board Regular Meeting.
And, if you ever hear Superintendent Torres-Rodriguez and her board lackey Philip Rigueur boast about their “sustainable” spending of COVID Relief funds, direct their attention to the nearly 260 faces no longer being seen around HPS.
