Harpreet Kaur, Ph.D.

Welcome! I am Harpreet Kaur, a Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow (Bioinformatics) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD, USA. I earned my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from CSIR–Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) in affliation with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India.

My research lies at the intersection of computational oncology, immunology, machine learning, and multi-omics data integration. I am particularly interested in developing computational approaches for predictive modeling, biomarker discovery, peptide therapeutics, immunotherapeutic design, and medical informatics. Through my work, I aim to advance precision medicine and improve our understanding of complex diseases, particularly cancer.

I have authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and developed several widely used bioinformatics resources and tools, including IL10Pred, Peplife, Pfeature, CancerLivER, CancerSPP, Glioma-BioDP, and the CPSM R package. These contributions have collectively received more than 1,690 citations and are used by researchers worldwide.

Prior to joining the NIH, I served as a Research Consultant and Curriculum Developer at OmicsLogic (formerly Pine Biotech, Inc.), where I mentored students and professionals in next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, bioinformatics, and precision medicine.

My contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the NIH Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow Award, the Young Investigator Bursary from the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), and the Young Researcher Award from the Institute of Scholars (InSc), India.

I am an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), and the Institute of Scholars (InSc).

In addition to my research, I contribute to the scientific community through editorial and peer-review activities. I serve as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Public Health and Frontiers in Oncology, a Guest Editor for the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and an Editorial Board Member for BMC Bioinformatics and Discover Oncology. I also review manuscripts for several leading journals, including Scientific Reports, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Frontiers in Genetics, and Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences.
