Harmonica Pocket — Privacy Policy
Effective September 12, 2026
Harmonica Pocket ("the app", "we") is a harmonica-practice and recording app. This policy explains what information the app touches, what it does with it, and the choices you have. It applies equally to the iOS and Android versions — they're built from the same codebase and behave the same way.
The short version: Harmonica Pocket has no account, no sign-up, and no server of its own. Your voice recordings and imported tracks never leave your device. The only outside party involved is Google, for showing ads.
Information we don't collect
The app has no login, no user profiles, and doesn't ask for your name, email, or any contact details. We don't run our own backend or database — there's simply nowhere for personal information to be sent to us.
Microphone & voice recordings
Harmonica Pocket asks for microphone access only when you tap Rec to record yourself playing alongside the harmonica. Recordings are saved as audio files in the app's private storage on your device and are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or anyone else. Deleting a recording in-app, or uninstalling the app, permanently removes it.
Backing tracks you import
When you import an audio file to play along with, the app copies it into its own local storage so it can play it back. That copy stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Advertising
The app shows ads served by Google AdMob, and uses Google's User Messaging Platform to collect your consent choices where required (for example, under GDPR in the EU/UK). Depending on your choices and region, AdMob may process:
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android)
- General device information (model, OS version, language, approximate region)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks) used for ad delivery and measurement
On iOS, the app asks for App Tracking Transparency permission before any cross-app tracking is allowed — you can decline and still use every feature. Google acts as an independent controller for this advertising data; see Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and how Google uses information from partner sites (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites) for details.
Data | Who sees it | Why
Voice recordings | Only you, on-device | The recording feature itself
Imported audio | Only you, on-device | Backing-track playback
Advertising ID | Google AdMob | Serving and measuring ads
Consent choice (GDPR/UK) | Google UMP | Remembering your ad-consent decision
Children's privacy
Harmonica Pocket is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll address it — though as noted above, the app itself doesn't collect personal information in the first place.
Your choices
- Ads: Limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier from your device's system settings at any time.
- Microphone: Revoke microphone access anytime in your device's app permission settings — recording simply won't be available until re-granted.
- Your data: Delete individual recordings in-app, or uninstall the app to remove everything it has stored.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
