Ramón y Cajal & Ikerbasque Fellowships

Expression of Interest (EOI) – HAPDE Group, EHU

If you wish to apply for a Ramón y Cajal and/or an Ikerbasque Research Fellow position within the HAPDE group at EHU for a given academic year, please follow the procedure below.

Application procedure

Send an email to BOTH the group PIs, Luca Fanelli: luca.fanelli(at)ehu(dot)eus and Carlota María Cuesta: carlotamaria.cuesta(at)ehu(dot)eus, with the subject line:

“[Ikerbasque][Ramon y Cajal] Research Fellow at EHU”

The email should include the following documents as attachments:

• Curriculum Vitae (CV)

• Brief description of the applicant’s research project, interests and how this align with the HAPDE group

• Two (2) letters of recommendation, to be sent directly by the referees to the same email addresses

Deadlines

Please note that the deadlines for submitting an EOI differ depending on the fellowship:

• Ramón y Cajal Fellowship: 15 November 2026 (please note that the calendar of the AEI calls, including the Ramón y Cajal fellowship, is already available at the AEI webpage)

• Ikerbasque Fellowship: one month after the official opening of the call. *This page will be updated with the exact deadline as soon as the call opens (please check also the Ikerbasque website).

Selection process

After each EOI deadline, the HAPDE group will meet to evaluate the received applications and to decide which candidates to endorse for submission to the corresponding Ramón y Cajal or Ikerbasque fellowship call at EHU.

Additional Information 

• As a general policy, the HAPDE group prefers to support candidates for one call (either RyC or Ikerbasque) per year.

• Please note that applications to the RyC program are independent of any specific research group. This EOI is therefore only relevant for candidates interested in being considered for incorporation into the HAPDE group at EHU.
