We don't really know 100% but most likely the adults WORKED for their laptops, iphones etc while the kid who may not even be old enough to work got his ipad purchased by his parents. Who knows if he did chores for them or something to earn it, but to them they probably just assumed that his rich parents bought it for him

no i'm not saying that you CAN'T do those thing but ipads were not exclusively created to do those things... like i am pretty positive those who purchase an ipad don't decide to for using it as a phone or to do school/work projects on..

wow you're taking my comment too personally.. maybe i should have rephrased it better.. but hmm so i get it this topic is of issue to you cuz you're worried that ppl might think you're spoiled if you have an ipad.. who cares what people who you will never see/deal with think about you...

Really? I currently only know two kids that have managed straight As for an entire year. They don't get many gifts and spoiling during the year, but their parents tend to try to reward them with something at the end of they year. Their parents aren't what I'd call loaded. And not all ipads are crazy expensive. Some are cheaper than most game systems which, nowadays, most kids have pretty much regardless of parental income.

The way I see it, is if the parents can afford it... what ever. Its no different than a kid in a family who can't afford an Ipod but can afford a brand new barbie in comparison to a kid in a family that can only afford to buy toys at yard sales and thrift shops. The parents of the latter kid are likely to think the kids from the former family are spoiled. The parents of the kid with the ipad would think the kid whose parents bought them a used car for their birthday is spoiled. That kid's parents will think the parents who bought their 13 year old daughter a chanel bag is spoiled. Then there is the fact that there are numerous ways the kid came by the expensive toy, even a kid from a wealthy family could have gotten it in a manner unrelated to their family situation. Its so subjective its worthless.
