What Is Next for Jalen Johnson?
Jalen Johnson has emerged to be the new face of the franchise for the Atlanta Hawks. With Atlanta trading Trae Young, it is clear that they have gone all in on Johnson leading the franchise. Johnson allows the Hawks to play with versatile lineups, including the potent defensive duo of Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Atlanta will look to build around Johnson at the trade deadline and not only make a push for the playoffs this season but also prep for next season.
Johnson is shooting a career best 36% from 3PT and an impressive 49.9% from the field. His shooting splits have not been affected at all with the usage rate increase. In fact, in most areas he has career highs in efficiency. Playing competitive defense is key for not only Johnson, but the Hawks as well. Johnson is in the first year of his rookie extension scaling to 5 years/$150M. Johnson is looking to lead the Hawks back to the playoffs and is in pursuit of his first career All-NBA nomination.
