Hawks Produce First Double-Digit Win Streak in
Over a Decade!
The Atlanta Hawks dominated the Orlando Magic recently by a score of 124-112. They
extended their win streak to 10 games, something the franchise hasn’t done in over a decade. A
month ago, it seemed impossible to get above .500. Now Atlanta is stacking wins, building chemistry,
and are turning heads across the league.
At the center of it all is their first time All-Star, and franchise player: Jalen Johnson. In March, Johnson
is averaging 22.6 PPG, 9.4 AST, and 9.1 REB. He is putting up these ridiculous numbers while
shooting 50.4% from the field and 41.9% from deep. Johnson’s emergence this season has
changed Atlanta’s identity on the floor and in the locker room.
One of the biggest differences during this run has been the Hawks’ defensive effort. Earlier in
the season, defense was a glaring weakness. Missed rotations, lack of communication, and
inconsistent energy plagued the team. Over these last 10 games though, Atlanta has shown a
level of discipline that simply was not there before. Perimeter defenders are fighting over
screens, help defense has tightened up, and opponents are finding it much harder to get clean
looks.
Depth has also played a major role. The Hawks’ bench has been consistently productive, keeping
leads intact and, in some cases, extending them. That’s something that separates good teams
from streaky ones. When the second unit doesn’t just survive but thrives, it creates a ripple
effect throughout the roster. Quin Snyder has recently moved Zaccharie Risacher to the bench,
and it gives the Hawks’ second unit more depth and the ability to stagger lineups more.
Coaching adjustments deserve credit as well. The Hawks have simplified their offensive sets,
focusing more on spacing and quick decision-making. Instead of over-relying on isolation plays,
they’re generating open shots through ball movement and off-ball action. It’s a style that not only
maximizes their talent but also keeps defenses guessing. Atlanta leads the league in assists per
game at a whopping 30.4.
Of course, every win streak raises the same question: is this sustainable? For Atlanta, the answer
depends on whether these improvements are truly real or just a hot stretch. Defense, effort, and
ball movement are all controllable factors. If the Hawks continue to prioritize those areas,
there’s reason to believe that this isn’t just a temporary surge.
The Eastern Conference is in a tight knit race for the playoffs, but a 10-game win streak sends a
message. Atlanta is no longer just trying to stay afloat. They’re now positioning themselves as a
legitimate threat. The Hawks are currently 8th in the Eastern Conference and are only one game
back of the 6 seed. If this version of the team sticks around, Atlanta might be far from done
making noise this season.
